I can't look at Darth Wong's post history. I can look at other posters' post histories.

I am using Opera 9.24 if that matters.

EDIT: what happens when I try to do it is it goes to a blank white page, like it's still loading, but nothing appears to be loading. I guess maybe he just has too many posts, because when I look at Spanky's posts, it takes a while to load, but does load.

Does the search function seem to occasionally not work for anybody else? Some random 1-2 word test phrases work but others just go to a blank page.

It's possible that the server is timing out on the SQL request. It is, after all, a mere single-CPU server based on aging technology and an obsolete platform (albeit dual-core), not a fancy gold-plated server farm. I recently upgraded it, but I only upgraded it from "really really obsolete" to "fairly obsolete".

Doing it just now, I get a HTTP 500 error. I guess he does have too many posts?

Did someone change the settings on the stars? I can't see mine or anyone else's.

Sometime this afternoon, the "mark all topics read" or "mark all forums read" buttons stopped working for me.

My post count was about 4410 but it dropped to 3964? What happened to the other 446?

An admin did a post count resync. Currently when threads are deleted (i.e. testing is flushed), your post count doesn't get decremented immediately. A resync counts all the posts that exist in the database with your name, so your post count no longer includes 446 long-gone testing posts.

You know what? It dropped again. Why do I get the feeling that posting in testing doesn't raise your postcount but actually lowers them. For example, I started a thread about Blindside in testing. Of course my postcount didn't go up but when that thread was deleted, my post count dropped again but not by much.

Having a problem with the search function. I wanted to see if someone had brought up game theory/selfish gene/evolution stuff in the Voluntaryist clusterfuck thread without actually having to slog through the entire thing, but all I get is a blank screen if I try to search for key words.

Usually a blank screen means that the process timed out before it got a response. That usually means a performance bottleneck (the hundreds of lurkers may have something to do with it; they look like search bots, and search bots tend to use up a lot of server resources as they mercilessly index an entire forum database).

I hadn't noticed the four hundred-odd lurkers before you mentioned it. I'm still getting the blank screen, but I guess it's to be expected now. Thanks for the explanation.

I noticed I'm not getting emails from the site when responses occur to a thread I make or am viewing. I'm curious if anyone else has this problem or if I stupidly checked a box disabling that feature.

It's possible that they're being identified as spam and filtered out, maybe even at the ISP level. It's surprising how many ISPs are really aggressive with their spam filters nowadays.

The board died for me for about 1 hour On March 27th, 12:00 AM EST. I had access to other parts of the internet, just no SDN. Was it a Verizon slipup, or did the server have a problem?

The hell, my dates were off. I mean it died today, the 21st.

Same here. I can get on the main site and the wiki, but all versions of the board timed out for the last two hours or so.

I'm getting that too... Server problems?

The connection is sporadic today, at times I can get in. Others, I can't. I bet the lurkers are doing this to us!

Otherwise this is not good.

The problems are affecting me as well, but it seems to be working better today. Yesterday I could hardly access the board at all.

The server appears to be operating normally, but the connection seems to be pretty heavily loaded.
