All it needs is a natural harbour to expand on. Needless to sy I do have a port city. GIven my navy it is not a huge harbour like other nations with more navy might have.

Bit about dragons added to OOB, along with an increase in the number of dragons fielded, to align myself with the minimum number of dragons per point.

The STGOD info thread makes this redundant. I'll put a post in there.

Folks, a quick note about air units and dragons. A lot of the point cost of a regiment of dragon riders or whatever goes to their excellent mobility. Fast flying units are pretty atrocious versus fixed defenses, and are poor choices for attacking prepared positions. The average fortress or city will have sinks of magic allowing it's defending wizards to blast dragon cavalry out of the air unless the attacking air units have quite the advantage. Now, the psychological effects of air units like Dragons make them poison to cheap infantry and to units out in the open, but they'll lose effectiveness rapidly when attacking fortifications or troops in rough terrain.

There is a reason I supplemented them with mages.

Perhaps you missed me the first time I said it. The mages sitting up on their dragons will not be as effective as the far more numerous mages a ground regiment will field. The mages on the ground will enjoy the ability to concentrate on their spells, something a mage riding a goddamn dragon will not be able to do as well.

I assure you, it has been taken into account. Air units are mobility units, raiders, and useful for vertical envelopement. Against fortifications or armies under much cover, they are in a weak position indeed.

Such is true. However dragons are also probably the heaviest ground cavalry anyone can field....

Aslo... not many people have actually payed for significant mage support in their OOBs

Yes. Yes they are.

Perhaps you weren't paying attention. Organic mage support is considered universal in all regiments to a greater or lesser degree.

5% of a regiment, and nothing that will "change the course of battle" I believe the quote from you is.

Or in other words, if someone is not paying for their mages, they are somewhat, shall I say, ineffective. At least in the field. In a city it would be different, what with them all getting together in a circle and calling down the wrath of the heavens...

I am just ssaying people have to pay fr them like everything else.
I went through many, many revisions, and much questioning by mods in order to pay for the stuff I have. I just dont want people to be able to say "And my mages uleash the power of the gods upon your dragons and take them down" when said mages were not paid for, and could not have that kind of power.

And the rules lawyering begins....
And it ends.

Black and white. If one of your 3-point Dragon regiments attacks an enemy 1-point heavy infantry regiment under cover, it'll take losses but win. Any infantry regiment of much over 1.5 points fighting from under cover will defeat your 3-pt dragon regiments, albeit with nasty losses, and a 3-point infantry regiment fighting from cover will smash the dragons handily.

Dragons are best used either as raiders or shock-and-awe troops for vertical envelopement- let's say hitting an already engaged infantry group in the open, "flanking" from above.

Very well.

what about dragons carrying boulders and playing B-17 over Berlin with heavy infantry?

How would Dragons used in a surprise attack on unprepared and surprised fortifications, like towers, work?
Bombarding them with fireballs and all in passing...

When would the training points come into affect? I.E. if I spend points on units now, when would I get them?

By the beginning of the next season. If you spend your spring points on something, whatever you bought would be completed at the beginning of summer.

It should also be noted that any units you are buying/improving have to be at home, and while they can be called to the defense, they will not be at their full strength until the end of the season.

Good luck catching any sort of decent fortress by surprise, and most decent fortresses have enchanted walls anyways. Of course, if you can pull it off through clever misdirection, the more power to ye, and it would be taken into account. Surprise is a powerful ally.

Ah. I was unaware of this, I thought they were used immediately. Can I change my build orders? It's entirely possible that the regiments I earmarked for improvement will no longer exist come summer.

Also, do we have a process for units accruing battle experience to be improved?
