Building other race's ships is so strange. I haven't read of that problem yet.

Is everybody sure they've copied and installed the shipsets of all other races into the balance mod folder and not just the stock folder?

Tuxedo can rechurn the old turn with the old .plr files and reupload, since it seems to be serious problems. I just hope the game doesn't die. That would blow major. We can upload to BM 1.08 later. Obviously the problem is because some people are upgrading and some people are not. Tuxedo, when you tell people, could you use the news function in PBW to remind people to upgrade instead of just posting in this thread. It sends an e-mail to everybody, and I know some people just ignore this thread (no surprise, it's spammy as hell.)

EDIT: I'm currently uploading 1.07 to my webspace, but it'll take awhile. I'm going to upload 1.08 too, just in case something fubared with only gups or nephtys' install. I've got all the shipsets properly installed, except covenant's latest upgrade to his Hiigarans.

I'm having the same problem. It crashes when I try to load the game and when I try to start a new BM 1.08 game.

Yeah... the shipsets load just fine.

How do you come to that conclusion?

If some people sent in the last turn with 1.08, that could certainly cause problems. I'll look into it later tonight when I get back from work.

Put it another way. It had better be something like that, because if it isn't it's just random problems happening for nothing.

Here is the full 107 folder for balance mod. Make sure you nuke the balance mod folder and don't just overwrite.

Here is the full 108 folder. Again, nuke the old balance mod folder. Maybe try this first before 107. This folder should work.

I loaded Brad's turn, and don't get the d:\fuckedupfuck problem. Nephtys, can you load your turn on some other computer, or some friend's computer with a fresh install?

Since I can load one turn which has an error on someone else's computer on my computer just fine, it would seem to mean that it's a local problem, not a problem with the turn file.

I wonder if the problem could be Steam comboing with normal.

I don't think that's what went wrong on my end, since when I try to start a new, single-player game with BM 1.08, it gives me the very same error.

Indeed. I'll download the proffered files tomorrow, when I'm at work, and give it a shot that night. I should still be able to make the deadline, easily. If not, I'll let y'all know.

I don't know what the problem could be. I copied the 1.08 update onto my desktop, then dragged the contents of the 1.07 Empires folder into the 1.08 folder, choosing not to overwrite any files (thus retaining the new AI files for the AI). I then deleted the 1.07 Balance Mod, and dragged the 1.08 Balance Mod from my desktop into the GameTypes folder.

It's the same process I used when upgrading from 1.06 to 1.07. Did I do anything wrong?

I just put it in Gametypes and hit 'extract here'.

Seemed to work okay.

Im getting the D:\something any time I try to open a saved game. Same goes for a brand new game I tried to start to test the game.

What the fuck guys. I'm not getting it. Am I special?

Download my 108 folder (80 megs) if you haven't already, then delete the old BM folder before replacing it with mine in the gametypes directory, if you haven't already.

I'm a computer inept, and I still figured out how to apply the patch. Maybe it's because I'm using steam, who knows, but it looks like a major fuckup if 3 people can't run their turns. That sure is annoying.

Did you grab the RAR or the ZIP? Only thing I can think of that would differ.

EDIT: I grabbed teh (RAR!).

I went with the .rar, too. Smaller size, and all. Darth, did downloading the .zip fix it? I'll download it, forthwith.

EDIT: I asked Kwok about the D: problem, and he quickly found the solution:
Captain Kwok wrote:Oops. Delete the SoundEffects.txt file from the mod's data folder. It's the one for Tampa_Gamer's sound mod - I must have accidentally re-posted the .rar file with it last night. Ugh. :P
I tested it, and it works perfectly now. That also explains why it was the .rar files that weren't working.

Car! Game on! Just to make sure, that fixed it for everyone, right? Make sure to say so if it didn't.

Yep, the zip worked.

Oh, look. I go to upload my turn and PBW is down again.

Maybe I should just email them all to you Arthur? That seems more reliable than what I've been putting up with.

As a last resort, you could e-mail to me. I don't want people to get in the habit of doing that routinely, though.

Sure just give me your password...

...haha no sorry. Could make a brand new account, after today's processing, and withdraw and rejoin (make sure after processing so you don't miss the turn.)

Actually only half kidding. Usually in SDN games I make it a habit to try and trade passwords with my allies. I've got three passwords now. Most other games I got half the passwords, since the whole galaxy was spilt into two power blocs, but this time three is probably the max, since I expect four or five blocs with vastly different interests and goals.

Sorry for submitting with 20 minutes to go. Too much discussion going on behind the scenes.

If it gets to the point where you have to execute earlier Tuxedo because of whatever, set the timer to earlier if you want. Some people are going to submit near to the deadline, that's just the nature of the beast of a 14 player game with a hundred e-mails and pms, and if it's too late make it earlier.

I actually would prefer the deadline two hours earlier if possible.

Well, I held off on the turn till today because of the uncertainty, and then was back and forth between being unable to access the internet and being unable to access the PBW site. Oh well, this game is so bugged it's creating its own weird fog of war.

How do you transport population? I hit the cargo order, move them over, and I don't get a damn thing. Even when I do nothing with the ship other than let it sit there and transfer cargo, I'm not getting the population moved. What gives?

Yeah that sure is a pain in the ass.

As far as I can tell transfer specific cargo is busted and you have to use remote load. But I've been able to move cargo like one weapons platform as much as I've wanted, so who knows.

I only ever use the remote load and drop orders, since the normal ones seem all bugged out. They're in the cargo menu, which is accessed on the bottom row of buttons. Hit remote load, then select the planet to load from, then hit remote drop, and select the planet to drop to. It's a pain in the ass, because the ship fills its holds with as much of the item as it can (generally precluding mixed loads), but it's all I've spent the energy to figure out.

I wonder if that's been submitted as a bug, yet?

They are banned.

Who sent you research treaty? The Suran? They were AI controlled last turn since I didn't get around to doing Keevan's turn. I don't think he has AI ministers off yet.

Suran almost declared war on the Federation bah.

Ahh, good. No, the Suran appear to have a research treaty with the Eris.

Well I am breaking that off this turn then if Keevan doesn't get around to it.

People who are missing turns and letting the AI run them. I can understand that. But please check your treaty screens for the AI being retarded and doing research sharing. Damage has already been done, but since there was no coordination and just an AI blunder, there shouldn't be a huge advantage.

How are you seeing that the Suran have a research treaty with the Eris? Can you see individual treaty elements? I think it is just called research treaty, but there's no research element in it last time I looked.
