He's back in the UFC to face The Mexecutioner in Montreal. Wicked.

Holy shit! Leonard Garcia vs. Chan Sung Jung at WEC 48 was just absolutely fucking insane. Imagine Griffin vs Bonnar I and Diaz vs. Gomi put together and speeded up, it was madness, absolute fucking madness. This was the most insane brawl that I've ever seen since Don Frye vs. Takayama, and it went on for 3 fucking rounds. You just gotta see it to believe it. Fight of the year, no question.

This WEC card just looks amazing. Can't wait to actually watch it.

Best MMA card since Pride 33. It was ridiculously good, every fight was a quality fight, it's definitely up in the top 5 MMA events of all time. It was that good.

redonkulous fight card, that Garcia/sung Jung fight was probably the best fight I've seen all year.
wow

The funniest part about this card? Unless you looked at the title belts, you wouldn't even see "WEC" references. Seriously, people were making jokes about a phantom promotion called "Aldo vs Faber"... or: "This blue org better be in the next version of UFC Undisputed..." Sad part WRT the UFC 2010 game is how WEC should have been the "minor league," not the WFA.
I'm reading that the DVD is available for pre-order.
Oh, and see Dana White arm in arm with Jake Shields. "He's MINE!"

OK, so the WEC is gone... I mean, that's all we can really take from the way it was handled. There was no WEC branding ANYWHERE, not even on the cage or mat. Just the belts. At no point did Buffer, Goldberg or Rogan reference WEC as anything other than something in the past.
That said, that card was fucking bananas. Top to bottom. And the fights were top notch.
Also - Aldo is lucky that Cecil Peoples wasn't scoring it, otherwise Faber would've won, after all, leg kicks don't count.
That said, Jung got fucking robbed. He was landing more often than Garcia, dropped Garcia a few times and did the only straight to standing backmount w/body triangle move that I've ever seen. Not just in MMA. Ever.

And FUCK YES for Brad Pickett being on the card.
You only need the first 10 seconds to know why.

Tito Ortiz has just been arrested less than two hours ago for felony domestic violence.

Apparently jumping to standing back mount is just Jung's thing
Video-game related, but... if you sign up at the UFC Undisputed Community (including State/Country for some reason), the demo download codes start Thursday April 29th.

I'll wait on the proceedings to form an opinion personally... not that I doubt MMA fighters are capable of violence but it just brings to mind when Colorado Avalanche goalie Patrick Roy was arrested for domestic violence and later investigation showed he'd only knocked a door out of its frame. Dick move, but not wife-beating.
And let's be honest -free- -local- newspapers aren't exactly universal beacons of unbiased reportage.
On happier matters, I agree that the Korean Zombie was fucking awesome, and even though he didn't win on the scorecards he won on the "we're all clamoring to see his next fight" card.

Re: Tito+Jenna -- at this point both have recanted.
Also, nothing will beat the sight of Yoshizo Machida whipping it out and whizzing in the corner of a swanky Canadian hotel lobby on camera next to a broke-ass-looking wooden box with "UFC" spray-painted on the near side.

Rampage probably shit his pants after he saw what Shogun did to Machida last night. The Shogun from Pride showed up looking to send a message and he killed Machida the way he did with everyone he fought in the 2005 GP.
And Daley is a douchebag. Koscheck's a dick for that dive he took off the phantom knee, but seriously, you don't fucking sucker punch the guy in the face 10 seconds after the bell's gone off and the fight is over. Dana White once again does the right thing and fired his sorry ass. Dana also should fine Koscheck good for that dive that was worthy of a soccer player.

Holy fucking shit. Shogun does in fact appear to be back. That was brutal. Rampage, in the outside scenario where he beats Rashad, will probably run over some people for the hills. Again.
So, how do people think Rashad fares against Shogun?
Daley deserved to get fired. I just wanted to see Miragliotta take down Daley after that sucker punch, not just pin him against the fence. That said, Koscheck is still a dirty bastard for that "OH NOES HE HITS ME!" act. But his douchery pales in comparison.
Kimbo getting fucked up was hilarious. So much for learning some ground game. Also, cut some of that excessive muscle-mass, go to light heavy weight and have SOME cardio. Seriously. He got out-endured by Matt Mitrione. That's fucking awful.

And in OH SNAP news.
Shogun callls out Anderson Silva. FUCK YES. Fuck the Rampage/Rashad fight. Fuck the Chael Sonnen fight. Give us this.
UFC has axed Kimbo. Clearly Kimbo's Freemason brethren have no sway over Zuffa
And when Dana says that he's fired Daley, he apparently means it. “I don’t give a s--t if he’s the best 170-pounder in the world. He’ll never come back here again.” Then again, we heard that about Tito. But this is also probably a good cheap shot at Strikeforce over their "pretend it never happened" approach to dealing with after the bell shenanigans.
And some more thoughts of mine:
Is anyone really that interested in seeing GSP run right over another wrassler? And is anyone even marginally interested in the TUF season that will precede it? We'll get 14 weeks of GSP ignoring Koscheck's angry rants and being astute and calculating, while Koscheck relives his time in the house by raging out, crying and breaking doors.

It's not so much a call out, just that if Joe Silva wanted it, hell yeah he'd accept it.

He's toast unless he can keep Shogun on his back for all 5 rounds and avoid getting stood up or submitted. The only person who can beat Shogun on the feet is Anderson Silva (and even that's not guaranteed), Rashad will get torched if he tries to strike with him. Forrest Griffin was giving Rashad all he could handle in the standup, an on form Shogun will wreck him so hard that even Rampage will feel bad for him.

Yup, he's got a bum knee and he still hasn't learned how to check leg kicks. Seriously, that's how many times that he's had the shit kicked out of his legs?
Shogun callls out Anderson Silva. FUCK YES. Fuck the Rampage/Rashad fight. Fuck the Chael Sonnen fight. Give us this.
If Anderson Silva didn't clown around in his last fight and put on the the most godawful show I've seen since Kalib Starnes vs. Nate Quarry, he'd be going up against Shogun by the end of the year, guaranteed. And it would be the most fucking amazing fight I can imagine, and possibly even top the Garcia vs. Korean Zombie fight from the WEC event. It would be Muay Thai madness with moves straight out of Ong Bak from both fighters. But since Anderson fucked his last fight, Dana White's going to hold it against him and I don't know if the fight will ever happen.

On the other hand he fired Babalu after he held onto his choke too long to "teach his opponent some respect", and Babalu ain't been anywhere near the UFC in years. Tito running his mouth and being a dick is one thing, but as far as I can tell it really pisses off Dana White when you do dumb shit in the octagon.

Normally I'd say no, but I'll make a special exception for Koscheck since I hate his fucking guts. I don't give a shit about TUF and frankly this has all the makings of a crappy season anyway, but I sure as hell will enjoy seeing Koscheck get the shit beat out of him again. There's 2 things that never get old, seeing Leben get beat up and seeing Koscheck get his ass kicked. I would pay money to watch Brock hammerfisting Leben and Kos to death.

Yup, and thank god for that. I like Machida and the great technical skills he brings, but goddamn are his fanboys ever insufferable. They're still claiming that Machida was winning the fight up until the "fluke" knockout, yeah, sure, 2 takedowns which went nowhere and a few knees vs. Shogun punching his face in, kicking & kneeing the shit out his legs again, cracking him in the head with elbows, and setting the pace for the entire fight.
Shogun just went for it, he put the pressure on Machida, knocked him right off his gameplan, and put his lights out. Pride Shogun is finally back, and it's about time he got a title belt.

More like "overaggressive much?" As we've since seen, very much. Although I was concerned when I saw Shogun delivering the unanswered knees from the clinch at the cage, I thought Machida probably would have gotten it on the judges' scorecards 10-9 from the takedowns. Not saying that the knockdown was a fluke... and in any case, the GNP after made "fluke or not" a moot point.
aerius, were you looking at Sherdog?
Oh, and weemadando... why Leben???
EDIT: Is there something wrong if my facial expression to Machida's busted-up face is Chris Brown's "dat ass!" expression? (I think it's Chris Brown, anyway?)
