That's a sort of blanket statement just begging for me to drop the price of my surface vessels :D. If you can actually offer the sort of prices I can I'd be shocked.

Yeah, but your retired vessels, especially the older ones, would require a decent SLEP to operate them continously. Would Cialan be ready to pay for it? ;) Giving Cialan the new stuff el cheapo is unlikely, so...

Dude, I got plenty of ships I am also looking to get rid off, but if he wants S-500F vessels, and even the added L-band radar, we'd give it to him. All he has to do is write the cheque books. He wants 5th Generation aircraft? We have them, and also a new counterpart to the F-35, minus the VTOL because none of us see a need for it.

THough I suspect the stingy bastards across the border might grab anything cheap, but that's beside the point. :D

Isn't Cialan sitting just beside CATO anyway? Fuck it, Stas can just roll in supplies and shit into Cialan for ship-fixing. Or offer his nearby ports for Cialan to rent or something.

Cialan's right above PeZookia and directly on the UCSR's western border. Stas can indeed roll supplies right into Cialan by truck or train if need be. The nearest UCSR military port is all the way in Severomorsk, though.
I ship Eino Ilmari Juutilainen x Lydia V. Litvyak.

It would be Fingolfin who'd be doing the fixing - he has a lot of experience in replacing MESS systems with CATO technology. But of course the railways are swift and so are military advisors, and I think Shady wouldn't mind if Fingolfin's engineers travel through the Union to Cialan with new equipment. After all, Cialan seems to have some interest in the Byzantine technologies.

What sort of industry, military and society is Cialan anyway? *goes away to read the Profile Thread*

Okay, I read some of it. (1) Byzantine and Shroomanian engineers would be the best to tackle Cialans transition to CATO weaponry if they so choose; because Cialan's language is English. (2) What is remarkable is that basically almost pure libertarians hold 29% of Cialan's vote. While the other 60% is split between two brands of moderate right and left-wing nationalists, the fact that almost a third of Cialanis voted that way makes the libertarians a significant political forces in Cialan. (3) Cialan's steel industries really got a nice boost during the economic seizure after the biowar I would believe; naval freight fell significantly, wherease controlled rail export-import should have persisted and even flourished. (4) Cialan's military is so small that CATO could basically replace their hardware on a one-on-one basis without significantly straining our abilities. There's no need to replace their major naval vessels like teh LHDs (just rip out MESS CIWS - they're up for an update anyway), and things like the cruisers/destroyers they have can be easily replaced, not to mention Cialan already has Burkes and Ticonderogas. If teh MESS is not going to propose giving them the pinnacle new machines el cheapo, I can't see them beating our offer. Cialan's Navy is very, very small as most of it's military, so modernizing it wouldn't be too monumental a task.

P.S. I like Pezook's calculator! 20 June 2017, wow :)

My recommendation would be for the Cialan Prime Minister to visit Constantinople and we can have a chit chat.

Ummm most of my stuff consists of Burkes and Ticos, not exactly ancient hulls all around. I'm completely re-vamping my surface forces to go almost 100% nuclear so the units being mothballed are not old in the raw sense so much as they are being retired to reduce costs. Average hull age would be around 20-25 years when decommissioned so there is a good 15-20 years left before a major overhaul. They would probably need a mid-life overhaul but even the US version of that is mostly an internal automation and computing upgrade. Quoting the Burke mid-life page:
The first phase will concentrate on the Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical systems to include new Giga Bit Ethernet connectivity in the engineering plant, a Digital Video Surveillance System, along with the Integrated Bridge, an Advanced Galley and other habitability and manpower reduction modifications. A complete Open Architecture computing environment will be the foundation for war fighting improvements in the second phase for each ship. The upgrade plan consists of an improved Multi-Mission Signal processor to accommodate Ballistic Missile Defense capability and an improvement to radar performance in the littoral regions.
Yeah...he really needs to do all that...or not. The VLS system on all Burkes has already been upgarded for SM-3 (though not SM-4) so that isn't a worry. Really unless he cares about having a supermodern combat vessel he won't need to perform more than basic yardwork.

I was going to change my OOB for my Air Force and possibly my navy on someones suggestion btw. I was intending this:

4th gen: Typhoon(x40)
4th gen light: F-16BM (x40)
A-10C (x24) (6pts)
Light AEW: E-2D Hawkeye (x20)
Trainer: Grob G 115 (X16), BAE Hawk T1 (X8), Typhoon T1A (X8)
Tactical Transport: C-130K Hercules (X12)
Light Maritime Patrol: S-3 Grey Wolf Viking (X16)

Thinking about the Navy and such atm. Would anyone have any objections about me doing this? To be fair you guys have had a chance to update and expand while I have been out of it and I have not RPed my forces in any major battle.

Now I would be very interested in the 5th generation planes as well as possibly some more trainers, Light AEW and some tatical bombers. I would be happy if someone of CATO would help me fit and help modernize as well. :). I am thinking about the ships.

PS: Who is Karic?

Hmm.. I guess you are using Byzantine Typhoons, and Shroomanian F-16s. Change the A-10C to Su-39BM. AEW you can keep (just make a claim and say it's a Byzantine variant). The rest well, it's up to you. I don't recall a C-130K though. Latest variant is a C-130J (or you can go buy the BAM A400M aircraft). Light maritime patrol, well, there's the Tu-142.

Correct. My basic idea is that Cialan's Navy, is very small, so it should be very modern to be able to adequately pose a threat to whatever enemies it might have (though seriously, who would that be, Vulpesia? :). And if he counts CATO as a potential adversary, it's too bad because his Navy in it's current form would not be able to hold out against us.

So whether he sides with you or us, he needs modern ships and modern missiles because he keeps a small force.

Typhoons make no sense, there is the "cheap 5th generation" in the form of either MiG-LFI or F-35. And the F-22 and Su-50 are moving to Trance 2 or something so

Shroomanian F-16s are of the (really really modernized) F-16XL type which is an excellent strike aircraft - you can't go wrong with 20 hardpoints and conformal hardpoints and VISTA-thrust vectoring!

(though they might be a mite outdated in a world sporting 5th generation craft like toadstools)

You could go buy some F-111XLs from San Dorado, another awesome CATO member! :D

Of course. MiG-LFI and F-35 are good for small nations. Typhoons are in their Tranche IV stage, where most of the equipment are more or less 5th gen, but lacking in stealth.

F-22 is current in the C variant. We ought to tweak our Su-50 line a little. Time for more efficient engines! (and some rebuilding of older craft).

Not sure if you got me wrong but that OOB stuff I got suggested was for my current Airforce of what I have at the moment, not things I want to buy. I hope that clears it up, I just think you may of gotten what I meant wrong.

Edit: Oh and what would be the pricing for all this be? That is, quite important.

As far as expansion goes, I'll have to clear it with the rest of the MESS, but sale of F-35s should be easily doable. Trainers, I have the T-6C Texan II and T-45D Goshawk available as trainers. Both can also be outfitted for light attack, and the T-45s as light fighters, in time of war. AEW can be covered with the EC-46 AEW aircraft. As for tactical bombers, Douglas of Tian Xia has been authorized to sell the F-15G (PM me for details).

Prices are still the same as before:

EMB 314/A-29 Super Tucano: $10 million each
CP-140 Aurora: $75 million each
T-50 Golden Eagle: $21 million each
C-27J Spartan: $32 million each (never mind that an actual C-27J costs twice as much in real life, about as much as a C-130J)
I ship Eino Ilmari Juutilainen x Lydia V. Litvyak.
