I suggest you reread the book. There wasn't really a problem until all the big mommas died off, with the result of all the bigger slamons transforming. Otherwise it's just generalized rage.

And I'd like to know what makes them this powerful. Massive numbers of missiles(Which can be shot down?), simply being on a massive frame with multiple reactors, what?

Provided the smaller ship's collective power adds up equally. That isn't always true and in fact in real life it tends to be the opposite. That's one reason why so many navies have spent the time building the behemoths.

If you expect to roll these things out for duty any time soon it would be nice to have some idea what they're like.

Massive size increase. They're three times the size of a standard dreadnaught, and are intended to be flagships (If you've got such a big problem with this, i'll only make one and use it as my flagship)

The problem is you creating such a massively powerful warship in such a short time and in such secrecy (aka borderline powergaming). You can build a number of warships, but the actual power of them ought to be reflected in construction time and effort the same as it is for every one else's ships.

Hey, man, wht would you want superddreanoughts like that, anyways? They are less flexible than a larger of force of somewhat smaller ships.

Hold on a second- there seem to be about 3 sizes of supercapital ship out there- the small, quit numerous vessels of the Cornerians (they have dozens of BBs.) The medium capital ships of my own Commonwealth (a little over a dozen large vessels) and the massive supercapitals- for instance the SKS's one massive command ship.
IS your DN worth 3 of the SKS's supermassive command ships? of 3 of the Commonwealth's Dreadnoughts? or 3 of the small warships of the Cornerians?

3 of my own dreadnaughts, which are roughly equal to other powers that have small numbers of dreadnaughts (I only had about, twelve when this thing started.)
I'm only building three of them. They're designed to be massive command ships that can lead assaults. It's mainly a prestige thing.

So these whings will scale up to be more powerful that , say, an SKS fleert command battleship, but not as powerful as the on massive SKS commandship.
sounds good to me, this isn't overpowered.

I should point out that those with a 'small amount' of Dreadnoughts are those with 3-6, not those with 12. But oh well. Maybe I can steal it before it goes production ready.

Should anyone wish to smuggle anything into my worlds... you face a fully shielded planet, the only openings in the shields are openable by customs stations. And just about everything is subject to search. Your ships are bioscanned, if anything is found, it is searched by hand/tentacle
Anything out of line gets a lovely little interogation session.
Naturally, we dont import things like fish...

Ok then, "Moderate amount".
I'd avoid trying to steal it though, as it's weapons are operational and every strategically important world in my empire has at least four battle stations defending it (that's enough to take out a large fleet.)

We may, but we will first check to make sure they are actally shrimp... if yout my drift... Basically, ths was a warning to those who would smuggle in certain aquatic predators...

Alyrium, no one can prevent smuggling entirely, especially small and more or less harmless things. Absolute perfection can't be maintained, not on anything like a planetary scale. If nothing else some one is having a bad day at work and doesn't notice something.

True, but then again, it is damn hard to get stuff in with limited access points. It isnt like a highways system, every ship gets scanned, by sht that can detect viral particles in a soda can on a good day. Getting living "fish" in is going to be hard.
