Shroomanian A-10s fresh from Syndromia strafes Gottish revolutionaries by the seashore.

Not to be outdone by the Red Technocracy's show of support to New Gottland, a FUNGAL AXIS member nation, the Mushroom Military of Shroomania has diverted several A-10 strike aircraft, sending them to a detour over New Gottland with precise instructions to strafe any insurgent position they could find.

The Shroomanian A-10s circled the island of New Gottland several times before they received targeting data from government forces and an enthusiastic confirmation to "strafe the living hell" out of Gottish revolutionary positions.

With their fuel tanks half-empty, the A-10s spared no time in strafing their designated kill-boxes. The target was an unpleasantly familiar sight, a coastal insurgent installation fortified with AA gun batteries, much like those seen and dealt with in Syndromia.

Mushroom Military analysts are hopeful that the timely intervention of both Shroomanian and Technocratic air forces will prevent the spread of Gottland's problems and stop it from turning into another Syndromia.

With the support of Shroomanian and Technocratic air forces New Gottland's groundforces has been able to partly encircle Kuloville. fierce fighting occurred in the northen suburbs as the army pushes ahead to secure ground for the inevitable push into the centre of the city.

The Grand Duchy of Vanaheim regrets that it cannot deploy peacekeeping forces in New Gottland, due to being tied up in supporting the extraction of peacekeepers from the green area of Syndromia. However, an auxiliary vessel with a team of navy divers has been dispatched to assist in determining the origin of the sunken destroyer. Due to the volatile nature of the area, the frigate VNS Valiant will be escorting the vessel. After arriving, the Valiant will remain in the area to assist any allied operations in the area.

The trio of Shroomanian frigates and the FCS carrying 500 Mushroom Marines have finally arrived, before the awaited CVN Flattop and after the devastating impromptu A-10 strikes on Gottish revolutionaries. Mushroom Marines have been deployed to Gottland's coasts, landing in their amphibious armored vehicles and eager to join the Gottland government forces in pacifying the insurrectionists.

The First Armored Regiment entered the outskirts of the city of Kuloville today, advancing with the support of the Second and Third Infantry Regiments. Rebel forces found themselves unable to resist our armored...err, not fist, maybe index finger, but the attack bogged down in the midst of improvised roadblocks and fierce resistance.

CONFERENCE CONCERNS

The Great Conference progresses in St. George and as the first few sessions were headed by representatives from the LUN, the FUNGAL AXIS, and the Red Technocracy, the delegates now await the response of other remaining participants.

Amongst the issues discussed and resolved in the Great Conference were the Laws of the Sea, the Bioweapons Ban, Territorial Space Treaties, and the state of Syndromia. Recent and unexpected developments include the sudden announcement of the Empire of Saddamistan's long-ranged weapons tests, and the quick resolution of the Allied Peacekeeping Committee of Syndromia's joint occupation operation which was resolved by a decisive impromptu meeting of allied nations.

The world looks on as the Great Conference will decide the state of the futures of many.

As a result of the somewhat confused state of the Conference, and the late and quiet arrival of several key parties, the proposed text of the Treaty under consideration is hereby reposted for perusal by all potential signatories:

Treaty on the Law of the Sea wrote:The Qudlivun Free State hereby proposes to all nations of this new world the establishment of the Law of the Sea. The Law of the Sea defines the rights and responsibilities of nations in their use of the world's oceans, establishing guidelines for businesses, the environment, and the management of marine natural resources.

This proposal establishes that the territorial waters of all nations to extend 12 nautical miles out from the internal waters (all water and waterways landward side of low-water coastal areas). The contiguous zone extends an additional 12 nautical miles beyond the territorial waters. Nation states which exist on archipelagoes or island chains are allowed to designate all waters between their islands as internal waters so long as they do not unnecessarily obstruct transit of vessels in an expeditious and continuous manner. For the purposes of waters, waterways and straits between two nations with a width less than 48 nautical miles between internal waters this accord evenly splits control of said waters, waterways or straits between the two nations with zone boundaries adjusted accordingly.

Foreign vessels have no rights of passage through internal waters. All vessels (including military vessels) are permitted innocent passage through territorial waters including strategic straits so long as such transit is in a peaceful, non-threatening manner towards the controlling nation. However no foreign vessel is permitted to legally engage in acts such as fishing, polluting, weapons practice or spying in another's territorial waters and the government controlling the territorial water is permitted to shut down access to such waters as a temporary security measure. For the purpose of engaging in law enforcement activities (such as preventing illegal immigration or prevent smuggling) or develop offshore resources (such as drilling for oil or operating a fishery) a government is permitted to operate vessels in its contiguous zone, though it may not deny access to the area for the purpose of innocent passage of foreign vessels.

The waters encompassing internal, territorial and contiguous waters are also the full extent of the nation's exclusive economic zone, whereby the governing nation controlling those waters has sole exploitation rights of all natural resources within those waters. No nation state as a party of this accord may charge any fee, tax or tariff to any vessel for use of waters in accordance with this agreement. All other waters beyond the contiguous zone are international waters, free to vessels of all nations and owned by none of them.

This proposal also demands all signatories to take all reasonable measures to protect the marine environment and protect the freedom of research on the high seas.

Also on the table at this Conference is a treaty governing free inspections of nuclear facilities by teams comprising representatives from at least two non-aligned states, the results of these inspections to be made public but to be non-actionable; and a treaty formally banning the development or proliferation of biological weapons and permitting international military action against nations found to be developing same.

The Kingdom, as host nation for this grand Conference, hereby asks any nations who have yet to respond to state their approval or opposition to these treaties.

Shroomania would like to restate its approval of these treaties.

SYNDROMIAN PULLOUT

There's been plenty of relief amongst soldier's families today, as the ACPS conference ended with a consensus - the Comittee, seeing Syndromia as stabilized, decided unilaterally to pull out their military forces.

And not just the soldier's wives are glad - Syndromians, though grateful for the stabilizing mission, can finally have their country back.

"It was a hellish year" - said one Syndromian citizen - "I went from a financial advisor to a scavenger. But I think we still lucked out pretty good. After all, had our government decided to attack Shepnukistan, they probably wouldn't bother with the whole occupation thing."

Other Syndromians, however, don't have such positive feelings

"These LUN 'peacekeepers' are nothing but thugs. They killed my son, and then pretended he was a pirate somehwere. Not my son - I knew him, he'd never do that. Who is going to bring him back? I'm glad those murderous scum are going home. They only brought misery on Syndromia." - Said one woman living in the south of the island.

The future of the island remains uncertain, but change always brings hope. Many students who settled in the Republic under the SIA are contemplating moving back home. Republican military advisors shall remain on Syndromia for some timem helping to train the new security forces.

LUCRATIVE DEAL WITH RED TECHNOCRACY HAS INVESTORS ECSTATIC

The deal was struck - the Red Technocracy is going to be the first buyer of a large production run of Fast Commerce Ships!

A staggering order for fifty-seven various versions of the FCS will mean the National Shipyard will work around the clock for an entire year. In fact, the National Shipyards are considering releasing stock on the market in order to gather funds for the realization of this project.

Naval engineers are enticed to come to the Republic with outrageous pay rates for contract work.

Of course, the parliament shall now debate on allocating the funds earned from this transaction ; Most experts speculate that additional JASD hardware will be purchased with these funds, and that the fledgling electronics industry may count on grants, subsidies and investment plans thanks to funds released by the pullout from Syndromia.

The FCS is apparently hot goods: while experts predict it won't last long, as sheer amount of bulk cargo will stimulate the rise of larger designs, plenty of countries are seeking production licences.

The National Shipbuilding Bureau is not opposed to this proposal: the Bureau was authorized to offer the manufacturing and modification licence in exchange for an investment plan in the domestic mining industry. Republican copper deposits still remain largely undeveloped, and should N'Ton be capable of adressing this, they would receive a licence to make and modify the FCS for the next 15 years.

First Generale Anna has been acting in public events in his absence. A known artisan, she opened a public awareness exposition on the dire ecological situation of the Glorious People's Republic of Blastification titled Post-Apocalypse Wasteland: Is this the final fate of us all?

At 2150 this evening, the bodies of the two deceased Vanaheim marines arrived back on Duchy soil, met by an honour guard and the Archduke himself. After a short ceremony, during which the Duke made a short speech to the assembled personnel and family members, the bodies were taken to be buried with full honours.

When our nation called, these men answered. They joined the armed forces to defend our nation and, I am proud to say, they died upholding our national ideals. Without their sacrifice, and the sacrifice of the wounded Marines, the piratical cancer in the south of Syndromia would remain and honest people would be unable to live their lives as they wished, but rather finding themselves at the whim of greed-blinded mad men. This is their legacy, and it is one to be proud of.

((OOC: I think it is, in some cases, people Not Getting the Memo. I would almost be inclined to say it might be easier to just try and start over: keep the maps and stuff but redo the OOBs. Because, to be fair, we did make these changes mid-game and people have likely been planning these things ever since the thread first came out. But then I'm not sure we'd want to lose the history.
