The duplicator used in "Moloch" was based on a slightly different mechanism. No explanation as to how either the Liberator's or Scorpio's teleportation systems was ever given.

I thought Blake and Avon had a discussion about it early on, and the early teleport countermeasure suggested that they were reassembling them. I'll have to break out my early episodes :)

I think that may have to do with a brainbug from the era that people exploded in low pressure environments. This may have been spawned by the fact that deep sea fish brought to the surface will explode (though obviously quite not so dramatically as people exploded in these sci fi stories).
