What's with all the weird black lines? Also, on the previous one, having the big turrets on top and the smaller guns along the side reminds me of Freespace. The overall design seems a bit more practical than your other designs.

I was messing around with the different kind of themes you can do in Sketchup, thats why the lines are all crazy. And with the previous one, that was sort of my intent, the older ones are pretty much purely aesthetic, but that one was meant to look more basic and utilitarian.

If you want to work with some really good tutorial books, check out Bonnie Roske's sketchup basic and advanced tutorials.
Pricey, but worthwhile.

What's awesome about your fighters is that from the aft they resemble outer-space race cars, but look just as cool as race cars as they do as fighters. That's multi-role design right there.

I like his fighter too, though I think the thing makes sense more if the back is the front and vice versa.
