What lines?
I just deleted an almost-posted post about how dumb you were. Then I realized you're being sarcastic.
Especially as given what we saw in the Big House today, it is a valid question. Clausen's front men acted like turnstiles and simply let the Wolverines flow through at will to make him munch sod whenever they pleased.

I have sympathies for the Notre Dame team.

Sadly, .... seems they sucked... unquantifiably bad.

Wouldn't have even helped if Weis had done some more "film study" on Michigan's defensive coordinator. They still needed to block people and hold onto the football on offense. They couldn't even get into positive rushing yards against Michigan's scrubs in garbage time.

Lloyd Carr just might have saved his job today but I think Charlie Weis is fucked. An 0-3 start and featuring what looked like the most embarassing performance out of a Notre Dame team I can recall and he makes lame excuses for it all.

It's even worse than last year's rout. Last year was embarrassing enough, this year... was unspeakable.

Jeez, other than the obviously outstanding teams you almost can't tell who's going to suck and when this year.

Oklahoma and Florida looked pretty damn good.

Iowa is looking like they might suck after losing to Iowa State who lost to I-AA Northern Iowa last week. UNI kicked the crap out of them too so that kind of makes UNI the defacto best football team in the state of Iowa. :)

UNLV got the tar beat out of it by Hawaii after the Runnin' Rebels nearly took out Wisconsin. I'm not all that sure Wisonsin is very good. It might not mater much because the Big 10 might just blow this year. At least the teams that are expected to be good.

As for Michigan and Notre Dame. I'm wondering if some of the Wolverines success this week is that they finally played a team that played to their strengths. As far as I know ND doesn't play a spread type offense or have a lot of speed and the two teams to take it to Michigan this year had both.

And LSU shreds Middle Tennessee like a wood chipper in a hurricane using only their second, third, and at the end, fourth strings on offense, their first and second strings defense, and an interesting tactic of 'let just about everyone have the ball at least once'.

44-0!

Ohio State came out flat, and was down 7-3 at the half to Washington. They then turned it up in the 2nd half to win 33-14. Not good enough, but a W is a W. Hopefully they will improve when they play good teams. These guys aren't the Buckeyes of old, but hopefully they will be able to hold their own in a weakened Big Ten.

Michigan's about to do its punching bag impression next week - Penn State's coming to town, and while their wins haven't been against great teams, the combined scores of their first three games are 135-34. The worst was the 31-10 win over Notre Dame. Notre Dame's 10 points came with -1 yards of offense (a fumble recovery for a TD and an interception, -1 yards, and a field goal). 21 of the points came in the fourth quarter by Buffalo, when it was 31-3 and the teams just started trading points.

The Nittany Lions are averaging 197 rushing yards per game, and they allow only 18 rushing yards per game (it was -1.5 per game until Buffalo actually got positive yardage yesterday). The fourth quarter of this game was the first time an opposing offense scored a touchdown. Now, the schedule hasn't been that tough so far, but they're becoming an interesting team.

From what I saw, the ND "offence" consists mainly of high-snaps and a lot of fumbling behind the line of scrimmage while the front line essentially stand there and act like turnstiles, while the "defence" consists mainly of letting itself get run around and over.

They must be trying to set a record for most negative yards in a season.

Time to turn Charlie Weis over to these guys:

I was almost starting to feel guilty about rooting against ND this week then I saw the rest of their schedule and it all came back to me. Yep, want all the Big 10 teams they play to beat them. Want the service accadamies, especially Navy, to be them. After that I'd have to see how badly I was feeling for them at the time. :D

Funny thing, I never really minded ND until I moved out of the midwest and they got that contract on NBC. Every frickin' week stuck with that team on one of the few stations carrying college football (at the time). Plus, the whole snottiness of being too good to join the Big Ten when it was perfectly good for Penn State.

Finally got to see the USC/Nebraska game on tape last night. Definitely dissapointed as I was pulling for Nebraska (my brother-in-law teaches there and besides a USC loss would've put LSU in at n.1). I think it was that injury stoppage when Vincent Johnson got hurt that killed Nebraska's momentum, because up to that point they were starting to roll the Trojans. I was impressed with Nebraska's effort to at least salvage some pride and close the score up a little bit —unlike a certain Catholic high school team which embarassed itself in Ann Arbor Saturday.

Will somebody just fire Charlie Weis already?

As I write, Notre Dame is going down to defeat against Michigan St. and are off to their first 0-4 start in Irish history. Ever.

Charlie Weis is killing Notre Dame football. KILLING IT.

Think Lloyd Carr in Michigan is bad? He at least is saving his job one game at a time.

A no-talent team headed by a do-nothing with a mighty high opinion of his own genius at offensive football but who seems to suck at the management of a whole team.

Time to ship Weis off to face the Holy Inquisition.

Can Notre Dame fire Charlie Weis? I'm no expert but my guess is that the University would probably be on the hook for some kind of buyout if they wanted to shitcan him. You have to wonder if some of his supposed greatness as an offensive coordinator was actually the stealing of opponent's signals when he was with the Patriots.

I know it's been said before, but it's hard to imagine that Ty Willingham isn't somewhere smiling about ND's woes.

And Michigan is now 2-0 in the Big Ten. It's pretty odd to think that they could conceivably win the Big Ten after their opening game loss to Appalachian State.

I'll never understand why they fired Willingham. He showed plenty of promise and seemed to know what he was doing, and is demonstrating that in his current job. But instead they wanted this lump of shit they've got running their team into the ground now.

The Big 10 overall look to be a bit soft this year and the Wolverines are a bit better than their first two losses seem to show.

You think it's bad now? With Duke's apparent lack of total craptastitude this season, I think Notre Dame has a legitimate shot to run the table. And not in the good way.

You can't look me in the face and tell me it's not conceivable.

I kinda felt sorry for the Irish...but then I remember what happened last season when we played them and simply call it redemption.

Well, I figured Georgia/Alabama as the Game of the Week and damned if that wasn't a great game. Alabama tied twice, Georgia's last-second field goal attempt misses because of a sudden crosswind, and they go to overtime. Alabama close to field goal range and get three, but the Bulldogs complete a touchdown pass on their first snap from scrimmage to win 26-23.

Iowa / Wisconsin turned out to be pretty good. At least what I saw of it. If Iowa could have made a couple of plays that were in the "close but no cigar" category they could have pulled out a win.

They did make me optomistic for the rest of the season and next year.

Arizona, on the other hand, just can't stop fucking things up. Real bonehead things that mostly have to do with discipline. The funny thing is that after they get themselves in a hole they can play pretty decent but still tend to fuck up about the time it looks like they might pull themselves out of the hole.

After last year's upset of Cal I figured Cal would beat the shit out of Arizona this year and it started out looking that way and ended up somewhat that way but Arizona pulled back to making it a close game in the third quarter and gave the Bears enough of a scare that they finally put the Wildcats away for good.

Arizona's quarterback is pretty athletic but after his several concussions last year he looks like he's afraid to get and definately afraid to run with the ball. This fear has messed up plenty of plays and killed several drives that could have been kept alive if he'd taken off running instead of trying to force a pass.

My appologies to the Notre Dame fans but I'm hoping for the Fighting Irish to get at least two more losses. To Purdue and Navy.

How can any non-Irish fan not enjoy a Big 10 sweep of ND, and it'd just be great for Navy to finally beat ND after all of these years. :)

He damned well ought to be afraid! Stoops should be fucking ashamed of putting that man's long-term health at risk to save his job. Tuitama has had, at my last count, three announced concussions. Each time it gets easier. A coach who cared about and respected his players would tell the kid to go find a new sport that involves less head-smashing, because Tuitama will be a drooling wreck by the time he's forty.

Fucking shame on Stoops for that. I dislike him for a great many reasons, but putting his job directly in front of his quarterback's well-being is just deplorable.

I was rather surprised last year that they had Tuitama playing so soon after having several concussions. With the way he looks this year, even with his special helmet he should have probably found something else to do.

Stoops never was as talented (or bright) as his brother Bobby when they were both players at Iowa and it's giving me a sense of deja vu seeing him as a head coach. Arizona should never have fired Dick Tomey.

Either WVU's that good... or East Carolina sucked. 48-7 isn't a win... it's a curbstomp.

But while the Mountaineers are 4-0, the Herd's 0-4. Once again, Marshall's players can't get their act together, all but giving Cinncinnati the game with all the mistakes they'd made. Injuries are also hitting the Herd, but poor coaching's going to kill this season.

.
It was both, ECU's players were falling over left and right and looking foolish but only after West Virginia started making plays. I think they have the best chance to go unbeaten of any team in College Football.

Thoughts and opinions on the OSU coach blowup?

For those of you who haven't yet heard, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy went into a heated tirade after the Cowboys beat Texas Tech. A local columnist had recently written an article questioning the recently benched OSU starting QB and coach Gundy was visibly upset (understatement of the day) as he lashed out against her.

While I think the coach went a little over the top in his press conference I think the columnist definitely screwed up and is now desperately trying to save face in a manner not unlike Karen Traviss.
