Ditto. I got the album after seeing the second trailer with the track in. The way it ends the movie with Prime's epilogue and the great way it fits Starscream's last hurrah in was something you don't see normally with pop music inserted into movies. Usually it's horribly obvious and tagged on and redundant.Davis 51 wrote:Y'know, when I heard that "What I've done" was going to be in the movie, I had no idea how it would work. It's probably best to see these things in their proper context. It's a comic book movie. This is how physics works in a comic book. The idea is not to make a "real" Iron Man movie, it's to put the comic book Iron Man on film. The same applies to the Spider Man movies.Drooling Iguana wrote: And good CGI is the kind you don't notice. Most of the other Album songs weren't that good by themselves, but they fit well with the movie. Even the Goo Goo Dolls song worked (right before Sam and Mikela got in Bumblebee after he beat Barricade), plus a few of the other rock songs. If it wins best Sound Editing, it will be one of the few movies that deserves it in the Oscars. My brother, an unapologetic Linkin Park fanboy, thought that the song would be horribly misused, but said he liked the end result.Admiral Valdemar wrote:Ditto. An example of something tacked on horribly would be Eragon. Now, I liked the books (eat me,) but the movie was the worst piece of shit I saw released that year. Even the fight scenes that were good lasted way to short for me to begin to enjoy them. But the song at the end felt horribly tacked on. Kinda like, "We need some shitty pop song to appeal to the mass market, STAT!"
Back on topic, I never read too much into the Iron Man song, but it at least needs to be used the same way it was used in the original trailer. Busting out of his cell in a makeshift metal suit and beating the crap out of random enemy red shirts was made of pure Win.

It's all in the padding. The vibranium, repulsor-powered padding.

Is it really necessary to carefully examine the lyrics of the song in detail? People are just gonna want to hear the bad-ass anthemic guitar riffs of that signature song. As soon as you hear that guitar riff, you want to kick the shit out of somebody.Molyneux wrote:...except that the song "Iron Man" is about someone who travels back in time and is slowly transmuting into metal, isn't it?18-Till-I-Die wrote:Agreed. So let me get this straight... the comics have been completely shitting on him in recent times, and now the upcoming movie sort of reboots him? I know that movies don't have to reflect the comics, but why would they completely ass fuck him in recent stories? This is almost the same thing that happened with Spiderman, except the other way around.
I guess it depends on your point of view.Superman wrote:So let me get this straight... the comics have been completely shitting on him in recent times, and now the upcoming movie sort of reboots him? Stark has become the top dog in the Super Hero world of Marvel. He is the Director of SHEILD and has the abillity and position to effect real change. Not EVERYONE hates him or even disagrees with what he did. If you go by the FF story line that just ended, Richards and Stark are on the right track for making the world a utopia. The Hulk/Banner knows that the Illuminati DID NOT kill his wife and unborn child. Spidey got that dumbass reboot, so he really doesn't have a beef with Stark anymore. Cap is dead, so he isn't a problem, and he let Bucky do his own thing as the new Cap, so he isn't really on bad terms with him either. The only people that really don't like Iron Man right now are The New Avengers, and they are the heart of the Skrull thing as they discovered Elektra was an undetectible (by magic, tech and natural senses) Skrull.
Also, what Cap did was sort of out of character, which is why some people are suspecting that he along with Elektra and many other Heroes are in fact Skrulls, which of course is at the heart of Marvel's next big "event", Secret Invasion.

You know, the scene with the tank shell could be in slow-motion. The only way I can think of to show that it isn't is if something's falling at normal speed in the background. Also, if the shell isn't so blurred that you can't reliably map its trajectory across the screen, that would be an object more or less in free fall. Of course, with so little of its trajectory to go by, the distance it falls would probably be within the margin for error anyway.

...of course, in my case I want to kick the shit out of the idiot kid I know who plays that song in Guitar Hero upwards of ten times in a row, but your point stands.
