Academia Nut: Yes, your assumption in the PM is correct. Just ID yourself and you'll be added to my huge friend list.

I'm a little busy at the moment, but later in the weekend I'll be more free.

Alrighty then, you can contact me at your leisure then. To avoid spam I sent you my handle via PM.

Also, just as a general question in case other people want to do anything similar, what is your stance on tweaking starting characteristics? Obviously if we start at a higher level than presented in the book my question will be a little moot, but there are one or two tweaks to starting equipment and skills I would like to suggest for flavour reasons, mostly having to do with my character's homeworld. I wrote in enough of a blank period to account for a certain "standarization", but if possible I would like to say have Survival as a starting skill and make Swim an Advanced skill (so if there is any body of water too deep to wade through my guy is screwed) to represent my character growing up on a desert world.

Obviously such things would be best haggled out individually, but I was just wondering if you amenable to such haggling in the first place.

I want to know more about these Handler fellows. I think there is the potential for a slash fan-fic.

This game is going to be on display, I hope?

Handler is a common term for the person who handles agents in the field. Seriously, wtf?

Just a note on the extra dice for Tearing and hotshot weapons, according to the normal rules (I have a lot of experience with this from WFRP and this question has come up before). The game mechanic is that you roll multiple dice and take the best result. That isn't determined until after you've finished with the die (i.e. gone through the righteous fury and generated a 15 and a 3 on the dice). You don't get to roll them again when you get a righteous fury result, unless the other die also came up with a rigtheous fury. Since you're rolling multiple dice and taking the best result, you do get a lot more righteous furies.

In my WFRP campaign, one of the characters is a Knight of the Grail. Under the right situations he gets to roll three dice and take the best one for damage. Just about every second hit and he's rolling in the teens before he's adding bonuses.

The GM, of course, can do anything he wants.

That does sound like a reasonable way of doing things. I'll keep that in mind when such weapons do enter the fray. Thanks :)

Damnit wow. I literally just came from Barnes and Nobles and read the thing and I was like.

Fork I want to play a game of this.

Only to find like 15 people want to play.

Also I'm really glad about this game because it's new and there are fewer chances of people having poured over the rules to making broken characters online. Which is why I left D&D pbp.

It's hard to do it when there are hard limits to how munchkinized your character can be at the start and how far he can advance.

And no matter how badass you are and even if you're an uber badass in power armour . . . . .

melta gun. :D

I expect that characters will die in this game, and not even by my own hand necessarily.

So far I think I've gotten about 6 pretty much finished characters set up. Anyone who has not yet sent me finalized character sheets, please do so at your earliest convenience.

Will do. What about Fate Points, Wounds, and Divinations? Are you just going to roll for those?

Of course, a daemonic pact can help you with some of those limits. Vast power and near immortality can be yours. Just do make the pledge, do these three simple tasks, and it can all be yours.*

*terms may very. Consult the daemon prince nearest to you (psychologically and geographically) for details.

This seems appropriate.

Out of idle curiosity, who are the players who have mostly completed character sheets and what kind of characters are they playing?

I for one am playing Quintos Havelock, Imperial Worlder Guardsman, out to serve the Emperor in general and kill as many heretics as he can in specific.

So far there are three psykers, a cleric, an assassin, and a guardsman or two.

Three psykers? Well, this will end in fire and madness (not that there is any other way for this to end). I'll get my scraper and bucket.

Indeed, apparently I'm likely going to have to end a couple of their heretical lives.

I'll be playing Camillia Davros, Void-Born Imperial Psyker and loyal daughter of Cadia.

by Brother-Captain Gaius
Zakary Knapping, Imperial World (War Zone) Adept, from a cozy little corner of the galaxy currently contested by Orks.

As for you three frakking psykers, well... All I'll say is "Suffer not the witch to live."

Holy God-Emperor. Three Psykers?

Can I swap to an Assassin? So far none of my players have picked that class, and I'd like to see how it plays.

Fratricide will be frowned upon unless corruption is apparent, gentlemen.

I'm fine with three Psykers, as it just makes things more fun for ME as the warp slowly picks the part apart. However, if people want to change, that can be done if you really want. I'd rather people play characters they think are fun and interesting, rather than attempt to follow the holy cow of "doing what the party needs".

Unless our Inquisitor is some kind of mad Xanthite (in which my character wouldn't last long in his service, anyhow), three Psykers sounds not only bad for the party but absurd from a RP perspective.

'Sides, I love making characters, and I already have my rolls from you. I'll post a character info packet to you by PM in a few minutes once I've built my Assassin. :)

I Havelock Priest shall minister to the poor wretches in the name of the God Emperor.. any soul can be redeemed, even the most wretched Hive Ganger.. and for those that prove me wrong well a slug in the head followed by dumping their corpse into a chemical vat and denying knowledge of their refusal works almost as well.
