Do they really look that similar? Dude on the left at least looks somewhat badass. Shinzon was a skeez in a rubber one piece from hell.

Argh, it had been teasing at me but you nailed it. You're damn right.Patrick Degan wrote:Karl Urban looks a bit more like Gary Mitchell than McCoy.

SFC was based on Star Fleet Battles, not FASA. The models from KA were used in SFC because of time, I think.Stark wrote:PROTIP - KA and SFC are based on FASA boardgames.Catman wrote:No, more like the Akula Class Destroyer, from Klingon Academy.Bounty wrote:Sexy. Isn't that a FASA design?
...NCC-0514? Weird ASS registry.
If it's got the underslung torpedo pod I'll be a happy man, lol.
You mean having a bunch of funky scribbles on the body and a scowl makes him any less dumbass looking? Really, Shinzon already looked bad, but side by side I really see how little they tried. It makes for me more evident all they did was "Scowl a lot, and oh yeah...tribal like tatoos, they make anyone look grimdark!"Gil Hamilton wrote:I mean, look at Nero and Shinzon side by side

Nero at least looks like a refugee from Dune. Evil-clone Skippy, on the other hand, looks like a refugee from a really bad off-Broadway musical (and, disturbingly, like Wesley Crusher without hair).Ghost Rider wrote:You mean having a bunch of funky scribbles on the body and a scowl makes him any less dumbass looking? That's young... wet... bitches... to you!JME2 wrote:"Oh my!"Stark wrote:Man, I'm loving the Sulu trademark frown. I hope he's got the voice too, Takei's voice is so goddamn awesome.
Yes, we can hope, can't we?
I'm not sure, given you no nothing about his character except for two photos, do you find objectionable? You claim he's "Shinzon reborn"... except for the fact that the two don't look like each other at all except they've both got bald heads.Ghost Rider wrote:You mean having a bunch of funky scribbles on the body and a scowl makes him any less dumbass looking? Good idea. It's better to play it safe. If it's a bad movie you could lose something more than just the money you spend on it. You could lose your life.GrandMasterTerwynn wrote:Something about these pictures is not giving me a warm, fuzzy feeling about this movie. I keep having this sinking feeling that they're going to make this film "realistic" and give it a "dramatic edge" with lots of LiveJournal McTeenangst. The Comically Over-the-Top Bad Guy(tm) isn't giving me any warm-fuzzies about this movie either.
I'm waiting to see a trailer, but chances are, I'm going to steer clear of this movie until people here go to see it in the theatres and come back to rant about it.
Vaguely. If you blow it up and put them side-by-side they've got roughly the same shape, but the interior's different:Death from the Sea wrote:is it just me or is that the romulan crest tattooed on nero's right hand?

personally I can't tell what's on his hand apart from vague arrow/bird symbol, it could the romulan crest or something similar, though personally I hope they won't point out he's a romulan in front of the Enterprise crew (to make them pass him of as some wierdo vulcan maybe serving the romulans (Spock ofc might know the thruth but it doesn't mean he's gonna tell it)).Bounty wrote:Vaguely. *snip pics*
Ehh could be however several of the pics are red x's, so it figures the ones I did post were the ones I couldn't see. SorryStark wrote:By 'a few more' you mean 'three pics already posted in this thread'?
They come from KA, just that neither KA or SFC came from FASA.Stark wrote:So I guess they don't come from KA then lol?

Dude on the left looks retarded. Dude on the right looks like a catamite.Gil Hamilton wrote:I mean, look at Nero and Shinzon side by side

So because I don't think Nero looks badass, think Sulu and Chekov in those particular shots didn't inspire me and find the bridge to be gaudy, you want some objective viewpoints where none fucking exist? Sure skippy, hold your breath waiting for me to detail my taste in a wholly objective way over something neither us have any knowledge except a few shots and some random statements.Gil Hamilton wrote:I'm not sure, given you no nothing about his character except for two photos, do you find objectionable? It seems to me that you are trying to get on the front of the hate train without actually knowing anything about the movie. Yeah, the last four ST movies were loads, particularly Nemesis, but I just don't see what's so bad about the photos in this thread. Nero doesn't look that much like a StarTrek villain (as Patrick Degan points out, he'd look right at home in a Dune movie), but he doesn't look that bad.
None of the shots from the movie do for that matter. The new uniforms they've cooked up look good (both visibly being the uniforms of the original series, but updates), the ship action shot looks dramatic, and the actors they've got aren't that bad. What's your beef with it, other than it's StarTrek?

Supervising Location Manager Becky Brake was a finalist in the category of “Location Professional of the Year for Features” for her work on the film, while Kathy McCurdy and Scott Trimble were both up for "Assistant Location Manager of the Year for Features". Unfortunately, Brake lost her nomination to a tie between Douglas Dresser for Fired Up and Gregory Alpert for Frost/Nixon. However, McCurdy ended up winning in the "Assistant Location Manager" category, with Trimble being named a runner-up.
Doubtless some people did, but a lot more had their hopes for that one totally killed off by the leaked shots, since it confirmed that the leaked script was actually real, and not the fanboy-wank scribblings that it had been dismissed as.You know, based strictly on early leaked screenshots, people thought Nemesis was going to be pretty cool too.
I'm pretty sure Trek movies have awards since - First Contact got a few Saturns, for a start. It's the first thing a Trek movie's won since Final Frontier got the "Worst Picture" Razzie, that's got to count for something.
