If it's a goon fleet, it is a swarm of bees...

Shit, I think i'm going to reactivate my account.
No doubt i'll get annoyed within a month, but what the hell. I have a lot of spare time coming up, and the lure of the market screens is strong.

Premature optimization is the root of all evil
Or: some people figured out an exploit where reactors could produce output stuff without consuming input stuff.

The opening action on our part regarding the exploit included the total destruction of all the POS complexes involved. This entailed flying to each one and basically nuking everything in sight - a fireworks show of epic proportions but with no witnesses except the GMs in the demolition team.
I would kill the fucking world for a screenshot of that in action, or better yet a video.

It would probably be boring looking. I hear POS warfare is some of the dullest part of EVE.

I loved that, my first thought would be that the POS'd would just be deleted from the database, but oh no, they busted out the GM warships and went to town instead!

... admittedly, I have a poor opinion of CCPs ability to code in the first place...
So, I'm biased into constantly thinking "What the hell is wrong with them?" at about every paragraph in there. But as I've not taken any classes on coding myself... I have to ask: Were they being as retardedly backwards and obtuse as I think they were being with their programming there?

Perhaps normally, but what about when you change that into 'OH DEAR GOD THAT WAS A CUBIC KILOMETER OF ANTIMATTER!'
Which is what you get when a GM decides to kill something. Hard.

No, I can see what they were trying to do and the (reasonable) assumptions made when they did that. Unfortunately, they didn't consider enough cases in their optimization.

Not to beg at the table, or anything, but all this excitement has me interested in EVE again (I dallied a bit when it came out). Is there any way I could wrangle one of those sweet extended-length trials?

You can get 21 day trials through
Steam.
Or PM me your email address and I'll send you one through the buddy system.

-steals Steam Link and installs-
so how the hell do you play this game?
It kinda reminds me of a more complicated "Earth and Beyond" which felt like a MMO-version of Freelancer to me.

This game is very, very complex. I have been researching and have only scratched the surface.
Ships fitting is intimidating due to the bewildering array of modules. Definately study up on ship fitting.

Jesus fuck.
Play the fucking tutorial.
And it's not THAT complex, and fitting is actually extremely basic - the ingame fitting UI is just clumsy. Get an external app and it's pie. Make sure you understand the EVE 'law' before you do anything, however, but any veteran player can explain that easily. Just add one of the SDN players and let them tell you (but don't buy anything off Coffee).

It looks OK but what was wrong with the old one?
Finally a way to dump some intelligence to perception
I like this one. Kinda like the love child of a Drake and a Kestrel
Looks huge and menacing. I like
