duh, that IS the point. DNA revolves around self replicating, therefore, the universe has manifested itself in us to survive. everything else is secondary, as anyone in a life threatening situation will tell you. Sometimes people do give their lives for other or some such bullshit, i'm not overly sure why this is, but it may be something to do with our social nature of our species.

Why in Hell would the universe manifest itself around us to survive? It's trapped us in a solar system doomed to be destroyed in a few billion years by enacting a universal speed limit. We're just as fucked as it is.

no, the universe doesnt depend on us, but for whatever reason, the way the universe acts created us to self replicate ourselves, that should be enough reason to exist.

My purpose of life is to find a way to be immortal before I die.

Some citations I don't even care to put into paragraphes:

"When you discover that life is meaningless, you'll find that Death is also..."

"What are you going to fantasize about in your Paradis?"

"It's there any value to Eternity?"
"We don't suspend disbelief, we hang it until it's dead!"

Hey, just because Microsoft has butted in doesn't mean the video game industry is screwed. As long as Zelda and Metroid exist . . .

We exist because our ancestors replicated. We possess their DNA, and therefore their desire to replicate as well. This observation simply describes our own current state of being, but it doesn't necessarily mean that replication is our purpose.

Linking a purpose to our state of being is an unfounded assumption. Occam's Razor would suggest that the more rational theory is that our state of being exists without the need to attach a purpose.... at least until such time as we find evidence for the existance of "purpose".
