It's true.

You know, there are so many things I'm indifferent to, vaguely amused by, etc. I've always been annoyed that there was no real effort to restore the original OT, but that won't stop me from sitting down and watching the 2004 DVDs.

But adding a pointless line to one of the most perfect scenes in the whole series? One that serves only to remind the audience of the notoriously awful "no" in Revenge of the Sith?

It's the next level of awful from the Luke scream, which is the only change so bad that Lucas actually bowed and took it back out.

That link doesn't really confirm anything to me. Its just one guy saying its true because miscellaneous people are saying its true - who he doesn't link to.

Hey, I can hope.

Meh. I won't be surprised if Uncle George throws in a few things that have nerds screaming in their basements, but this just screams 'fat guy fooling around with Windows Movie Maker for lolz'.

As a joke, maybe Lucas deliberately added bullshit like that to the first-run Blu-rays just so that he can re-release it on a second run 'fixed'. :)

Yeah, now that I've delved into the comments I'm skeptical enough to have hope.

But I don't have a Blu-Ray player anyway, so my personal stake in this isn't too high.

To be fair, the original version of the krayt dragon call didn't sound much better. It started out like a siren, then ended in this weird distorted Sand People grunt.

...

You know, I'm not upgrading my DVD's to BluRay, so I'm happy with the currrent Star Wars DVD's in my collection.

But even I'm not happy about the alterations to Vader turning on the Emperor.

Oh well. I don't own anything that can play Blurays so I don't really care.

Why make us waste time reading your irrelevant opinion, then?

I personally don't care, because I accept that Lucas will change things (it's his work) and I'm not a fan who loves the series so much that I'll notice changes, anyway. The last time I even watched the original trilogy was back in 2005, so I didn't even remember the scream by Obi-Wan in ANH. The scream in RotJ by Vader makes sense thematically, though. This is why I'll be buying the set. I'm not going to piss in my pants because Lucas raped my childhood even further by making changes to his own shit, in a way that he feels makes them better.

Yeah mang because every time someone objects to further changes you gotta bring out the "raped my childhood line."

Nobody is saying Star Wars doesn't belong to George Lucas, but in a way it also belongs to the audience. At some point a lot of people paid money to see Star Wars and eventually own it in its original form. And for most movies it is enough to pay the price to see the movie you saw in theaters long ago. At best we can expect little touches like deleted scenes and a professionally restored film so that it still looks at least as good as it did when it first hit theaters. What we're getting from George Lucas is change for the sake of change. He's turning into Ridley Scott. There would be less animosity if he would stop making the original versions harder to get. It's not like people are going to not buy Star Wars so releasing it several ways can't cut into profits that much. Maybe the new set will come with the unaltered editions but who knows at this point.

But whatever, the fans are starting to imitate Lucas with this whole "ESB Revisited" thing.

I know, and it was hyperbole on my part, but the internet is ablaze with posts and comments along the lines of "I will not buy because of this change. Boycott!" and all that shit. If the changes are made to make the OT fit with the PT, I'm all for it, and that's what I see the Vader line in Jedi as.

Comparing him to Ridley Scott is nothing but a positive to me, though.

I saw those videos and my give-a-crap meter didn't even register. The "NOOOO" sounded fine to me. I think it might be getting more attention because of the Episode III connection. I know people make fun of the Episode IIII "NOOOO," and I thought that sounded off as well when I first heard it in the theater. Then I read the explanation for it: Lucas intended to show the character's tortured emotions and the last vestiges of Anakin Skywalker dying. People probably expected a badass explosion of rage. At least that was what I expected.

The (former?) Krayt Dragon cry sounds really weird and unnatural. But isn't the Krayt Dragon cry an EU invention? Take away the idea that that's supposed to be an animal, and it makes a lot more sense. Obi-Wan is trying to pass himself off as a ghost or monster, to the superstitious desert savages. At least that's the impression that I got.

At this point in my life, I just don't care about minor little edits like this. And I'm still in my twenties.

Ugh. Wonderful. I really don't like it. Its just so damn unnecessary.

EDIT: worse, several people are saying that the sabre colours have in fact not been completely fixed, and its only a few frames that have. I am seriously considering cancelling my pre-order.

Eh, as I said, the "No" isn't a deal breaker for me. A half assed job fixing the shitty colour issues with the last release, however, is. I'm simply not paying premium prices for shoddy worksmanship, especially considering how extremely dishonest it makes the starwars.com article about their fixes look.

No proof as of yet. They're going from torrents of the blu-rays or something. I'm waiting for a legitimate review.

Ben's new yell reminds me of the one from Mr Wint in Diamonds Are Forever, when Bond sticks a bomb between his legs.
