Here's another thought:
Kenobi told Luke that Vader killed his father. When Luke learned the truth, Ben sorta stood by his statement, noting that when Anakin became Vader, he killed the part of himself that was Luke's father.
Well...maybe there are two Anakins? Palpatine might've been able to get a hold of that midichlorian count sample in TPM. While they are genetically the same, and the original Anakin
is turning in the general direction of the Dark Side, perhaps there's a clone of him who literally kills the original. In a sense, he'd still be Luke's father, and he would've killed the "good part of himself" in a manner of speaking.
You'd think Kenobi would know all of this, though, and many of the things he said in ROTJ aren't consistent with this idea. But could he have been kept in the dark (harhar) somehow? Could the clone/Dark Anakin be made to resemble the original in most ways; e.g., some memories of his mother's death, living in slavery, the illicit relationship with Padme, the mechanical hand?
I know that is far-fetched and I don't
seriously propose it (and no, I do NOT like the idea!), but I wanted to throw that out simply because I haven't seen anyone else say it yet
