Does that sound possible or am i just kidding myself? Cause really, this hydrogen car plan sounds very good to me.
If you could fire the entire government and shitcan every oil & energy industry lobby group then it's perfectly doable. In real world America, you'll quickly find yourself tarred, feathered, impeached, and lynched. When they get around to writing the history books you will either not exist, be known as the great Satan, or "the one who won't be spoken of".

Yeah well i knew it was too simple to work. It's not like tree huggers are the only problem though; theres also the oil companies and car manufacturers, now that i think about it, who would go apeshit at the very idea of converting, en masse, to hydrogen. They'd probably have me assassinated or some shit and put Jenna Bush in my place so they can continue to screw over both the enviroment and the people. Oh well.

And before i get sidetracked: i'm sorry Cairber for what i said earlier, i was way ahead of myself. So thats that, i hope for no bad blood.

Anywho, pollution and politics aside, and on topic, i dont think Kerry did that bad a job at all last night, and in fact i rather liked his speach. He didnt need to break out the pie charts grafts and 20,000 word essays on wht he wa splanning to do because he has time for that later, this was just his 'introduction' as it were. I know how i'm voting for (hint: he's NOT Bush) and i'm hoping he trounces Dubya so we can put the last few years behin us like a terrible dream never to be spoken of again.

Meanwhile, I'd do my patriotic duty by screwing Jenna.

I didn't get to see the speech, but I read it. It seemed okay as far as I'm concerned. I hated the obligatory references to God and religion, but he said enough about "not wearing it on your sleeve" and such for me. Sufficient lube for the unavoidable American ass-ramming.

Am I the only one who thinks that Lincoln quote about "not saying God is on our side but rather praying that we're on his" is excrutiatingly stupid? Aren't both approaches to religion and nationality equally dangerous? In fact, I'd go so far as to say the latter is worse than the former.

And I liked the part where he said we'd have a President who believes in science. Zing! :D

Honestly, I've just started tuning out the more common religious crap in speeches. Any politician who gives a fuck about his career is going to talk about how great the God of America is or other such nonsense every so often. It's when such comments mark the basis for his policy decisions that I start worrying.

At the end of the day, we won't have to worry about Kerry fighting to outlaw abortion and gay marriage in the name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, declaring a Holy Crusade on Muslim countries or preaching to us about bridges between church and state. So I can live with him.

One of the best parts of the speech, IMO, was when he said that he would elect an Attorney General that actually follows the Constitution. My dad cracked up, and so did the convention :D

It seems like praising God and all that is like the pinch of incense and pray to the God of Rome. You kind of have to do it, or bad things happen, but you don't really have to believe in it.

Nothing he said really changes my veiws of him. It's a pretty speech but that's all; I've heard similar from Gore and Bush last time around. I was hoping he'd actually begin talking in more than broad strokes about what he plans to do, but there was nothing.

I was born in Colorado, in Fitzsimmons Army Hospital, when my dad was a pilot in World War II. Now, I'm not one to read into things, but guess which wing of the hospital the maternity ward was in? I'm not making this up. I was born in the West Wing!
Oh christ, you can't make this shit up.

Depends on how far you want those restrictions to go: Kyoto's targets are totally unrealistic, and attempting to implement Kyoto would be devastating for the already-ravaged US economy. After the EU countires signed it, they found that they will be unable to meet it's pollution control targets. Also, the only reason Canada signed it is because at the time we had a prime misister so stupid he makes GWB look like a member of MENSA.

Sounds like AvP: Whoever wins... we lose.

Or rather, Americans do (until the UK gen. elections see Blair scrape in again or something stupid).

I've already mentioned it elsewhere, but this "God bless America", saluting and extremely overzealous and blind supporting of candidates is sickeningly, uh... sick.

I was hoping he'd stop talking at some point or another. It was pretty damn funny to see the delegates stand up and cheer exactly when he wasn't quite ready, and see him squelch the energy of the crowd by moving right through the applause.

C'mon, how many times at the start did he say "thank you" at the start? It must have been at least 10-20. Kerry just didn't come off as extremely prepared.
