Also, using the 50 Turrets = 64 cannons we get 52 HTL cannons for the RSD.
In order to distribute those cannons in turrets we have ranging possibilities:
High: 4 turrets with 13 cannons
Mid: 13 turrets with 4 cannons
Low: 26 turrets with 2 cannons

Personally I think 13 turrets is likely, twelve on each side plus another possibly in the front or aft or ventral surfaces.

It also seems to be in the NR's favor that they have more diversified fleets (few jack-of-all-trades ships like the ISD) and don't have to worry about having to occupy all their territory even at peace time to prevent rebellions.

The New Republic's NJO-era vessels are quite impressive. Some high-end guesses place the New Republic Viscount-class (IIRC) Star Defender vessels at near-SSD size/mass/firepower levels and the Mediator-class Battlecrusier in itself is an impressive weapon. Saxton estimated both to well-outclass an ISD. So it looks like the New Republic has, at least to a degree, woken up from the "small is better" stupidity.

If a ship is bigger , like SSD class and outclasses an ISD2, then I can live with it, but the ISD2 is the king of capital ships in it's class anyway, ofcourse an upgraded ISD will rule the skies then instead, it's not SW otherwise.

Ofcourse, the upgraded ISD1 in Darksaber, which was turned into a battleship, now that was a kickass ship, took a massed volley from what, 20 or more Victory class SD's and it's shields held.

As for these things, where are they on saxtons site?

Well, the two turrets most aft are Ion cannons and have three barrels.
And the other turrets have 2 barrels and give a total of 12 HTL's
And also the VHTL's in the brim notches towards the back.

Anyway the official info is that an Republic class is 20% stronger than an ISD1 but not as powerfull as an ISD2.
So the ISD2 is most likely more powerfull than 20%.
