Argh. This started for me last night, and it's been happening mor eand more frequently since. Seems like every time I go to do something on the board (change threads, switch a thread page, go to my pm inbox, etc) it does it. This fucking blows.

Just because of this problem doesn't mean that you can double post. If it don't load when you post it, go back to the page it would go pnj and refresh it, if it dont appear, then go forward and hit post again.

I consider Kelly's option to be one of last resort only. I've contacted the webhost and they said they're aware of the problem and looking into it. It looks like it might not be sheer overload, and may actually be some kind of software issue. If that's the case, then hopefully they can fix it and this will go away.

The internet is a medium for the free exchange of ideas. If Mike makes it a paysite, he will be sacrificing the very values he smacks Micro$oft around with.

If you will notice, I did say FINAL thing. Geez. I was just throwing out ideas.

Here's a question. If having all of the old threads and posts can cause a problem such as this, is there a way to delete the old ones, or find a way to archive them and freeze everybody's post count at thier current number and let it rise from there?

It isn't necessarily the old threads; that was just one possibility among many (presuming that database size is slowing down the engine). But I ran "top" for a while on the server and mysqld wasn't hogging resources; it was httpd. So I'd guess that they were having some kind of Apache-related problem. Maybe they can fix it.

Hmm, it seems to have stopped for now. I seriously hope thats all that it was.

What might help trim that database down a little is deleting all the un-used accounts. They may be small, but they can add up.

Ted, that's what I did. I didn't double post on purpose. Sorry about that. The problems were being horrific to me. I didn't mean it. I would delete it, but I can't figure out how?
