I love the way you drive vehicles in Halo then any other game.
Get your fill of sci-fi, science, and mockery of stupid ideas

You're right, with the Warthog you couldn't fire at all...DPDarkPrimus wrote:Just the Scorpion... not the Warthog. And they're going to make it so you can do just that for HALO 2.2000AD wrote: To aim a vehicle weapon you had to turn it in the directionj you wanted to fire, unlike just about every other (recent) game with vehicles in that i can rememebr where steering and aiming are independant.
They do. It's called multiplayer.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:You all know my opinion of Halo.
I'll just say that I'm looking way more forward to Half-Life 2 and STALKER than Halo 2. Multiplayer be damned, those two games look fucking killer.
I don't know exactly much about the story for Halo 2 other than just more alien stuff, but for a hypothetical Halo 3 I think Bungie should take a hint from Red vs Blue and do a civil war game.
Now that was a game!weemadando wrote:Incorrect, Herzog Zwei...Beowulf wrote:Dune 2. First Real Time strategy game.SPOOFE wrote: Son, there ain't been anything revolutionary since 1776.
I mean as the SINGLE PLAYER storyline, you retard. A civil war would be a hell of a lot more interesting then yet another fight against yet another or the same alien species.StormtrooperOfDeath wrote:They do. It's called multiplayer.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:You all know my opinion of Halo.

If what i've picked up from the trailers and previews is right then the aliens from the first HL are working with the humans and there's a new alien species. Earth has been invaded full scale by aliens and it's a got a "post-apocalypse" thing going on.Icehawk wrote:Umm, isnt Half Life 2 also technically just another shooter against "yet another or the same" alien species? What exactly makes it so much more appealing that Halo 2?
Ok I see, Interesting.2000AD wrote:If what i've picked up from the trailers and previews is right then the aliens from the first HL are working with the humans and there's a new alien species. Earth has been invaded full scale by aliens and it's a got a "post-apocalypse" thing going on.
Since you go up against humans as well, you've got 2 (maybe 3 if the HL1 aliens defect) distinct factions who wil also fight each other as well as you.
On top of that you've got an engine that's making everyone drool, it's a sequel to what is still the benchmark against which FPS are compared and it's looking like it's going to blow everything out of the water and become the new benchmark. Plus the developers have had another year to perfect it due to all the delays.
Personally I always thought Halo 1 single player was the main attraction. At least thats what it was for me. Halo 1 multiplayer was the best ON A CONSOLE I had played but the single player was better than anything I had played on PC or console. I loved Half Life don't get me wrong, but I always thought of Halo as superior to it in terms of single player and pretty much tied with it for multi.Halo 2 is the sequel to an above average game that got blown out of all proportion because it was the first experience of a good multiplayer that most console gamers got, which looks like it's just the same again, but with better graphics, less of the copy and paste school of level design and a few other tweaks.
IIRC C&C: Renegade had fully controllable vehicles and it came out before Halo. I'm sure there were others but i can't remember any right now.Icehawk wrote: Correct me if im wrong but wasnt Halo also the first FPS game to introduce good use of controllable vehicles for both multi and single player? It came out in 2001 and the only othe game I can recall with hop in controllable vehicles with Unreal Tournament 2003 which obviously came later and Tribes with its chincy hover speeders and transports.
Interesting. How many vehicles did it have? Could teamates hop on for support and did it have air controllable vehicles as well that could fight in the same environents as the ground ones?2000AD wrote:IIRC C&C: Renegade had fully controllable vehicles and it came out before Halo. Hmmm, I always thought GTA was third person view but had gave you the option to go first person for certain moments. Overall I'd say it depends on the game. FPS games untill recently were usually designed specifically with the first person perspective in mind and with little to no vehicle controll. Half Life for instance may be a really good FPS game, but its engine is absolutely shit for vehicles and is not meant to be used in the third person viewpoint.2000AD wrote: (The GTA series doesn't count as FPS does it? Is there that much of a difference between 3rd person and FPS ?)
IIRC there was at least 8 vehicles (4 each side) and also IIRC there was aircraft (the orca).Icehawk wrote:Interesting. How many vehicles did it have? You are wrong, Codename Eagle, insanely fun game by the makers of Battlefield 1942, it's pretty much BF42 in WWI.Icehawk wrote:

The first you played, obviously, not the first. Look above. Also look for the Interstate series.Icehawk wrote:
Halo was the first game I ever played where the switch from first person shooting to third person view and controll for the vehicle was perfect and the vehicles also blended and worked perfectly with the surrounding environments with good physics, plus the whole thing with friendly people hopping on to your ground vehicles and being able to providing cover fire while driving was also a first for me and it was pulled off perfectly.
Didn't Doom (or one of the old id's games) have coop? or was it Duke Nukem?2000AD wrote:Halo didn't even bring in co-op, Serious Sam did that and IIRC there were other co-op games before that as well.
EDIT: Hell i just remembered, there were FPS on the frickin Amiga that had co-op.
By a few years at least.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Doesn't the Amiga predate either of those?
