Good to have you, Pablo.
Nitram, welcome. And yeah, feel free to be a grand.
DaveJB, welcome to the game, and very good OOB. Some minor points you might like to know- your nation is assumed to have troop transports without spending your fleet on it, the fleetcount is for warships. Of course, if you spend fleet-points on troopships, you'll wind up with a group of vessels that are far more durable and well-armed than most player's troopships; if this is what you want, than good job.

Do we have any guidelines for the creation of our ground forces?

I'm thinking I would be either a major or a grand. Which?
There's also the matter of the Triad, which was in the works as the STGOD failed. I'll just assume that that storyline was frozen "as was," together with the Saturn/Halite arc and such.

Grand or Major, your choice. As an Entente member, you are completely free to take a Grand.

Go crazy. Of course, a degree of adherance to real-life concepts will be necessary for an effective army. For instance, an army composed entirely of heavily armored, magically enhanced troops armed with melee weapons will get raped by a more conventional army with ranged armament. Some knowledge of basic military concepts will help.

I'm planning to use a few Capital points for my elite Psykers and a few Cruiser ones for my elite boarding troops. Yes, a boarding crew worth a warcruiser is fucking
scary.

Ah, the glories of victory. I guess that the TSC decided to go their own way after they were bailed out

Who's saying I won't persue immediate entrance to the Entente as soon as the game starts?
Besides, my being a Major rather than a Grand has more to do with the loss of 2 major worlds to orbital bombardment combined with consolidating my hold on what might be the second-largest empire in Known Space. I'm sure with sufficient time to bring the colonies to heel, I'll be in the Big G club soon enough

What I'm basically planning to do is have my ground forces be about a third the size of whatever the baseline is, but fifty percent more badass on an individual unit basis. The resources that would normally go into more orbital bombardment fodder go into increased fleet logistical support.
This is because anyone with the serious resources and inclination to invade is probably going to nuke the crap out of anything military anyway. The point of my ground forces is to hold colonies aginst minor threats, take and hold critical objectives when on the offensive, and look really impressive in parades.

What do you mean by increased fleet logistical support? What sort of advantages do you hope to gain?

Faster rebuild and resupply of my expendable fighter components, and to a lesser extent, the more expensive ones, and an excuse to throw away even more missile swarms to get decoyed, shot down, and laughed at.
More and better fast resupply and repair ships.
The idea is for my ships to be able to more easily reach full combat capability for the next fight if they aren't crippled or destroyed outright. Part of the resource outlay is just to account for the fact that I have a very tail heavy force to begin with, while other ships would just need to recharge the capacitors before heading back into battle, mine will very likely need to reprovision heavily after an intensive engagement, even a successful one. Probably at least half of the supposed increase would go into countering the inefficiencies of the not entirely rational combat philosophies of my people.
Basically, just a thought I had that might be fun to play with. Plus, I am entirely too lazy to write incredibly extended ground battles.

Bah, ground battles are over-rated. What do you have huge spaceships that can pour endless amount of death onto a planet?

*shrug* It's a poor choice to ignore ground forces. You can bomb worlds to fuck, and who wins then? It's important to take and hold worlds; those who drop away their military forces for starships will face an inability to conquer other nations and put down revolts in conquered territory.

Not to mention die like stinking dogs to boarding forces.

Not ignoring, but the philosophy that I am making up as I go along would be far more likely to take a couple of worlds, and slowly assimilate them, than to go on the orgies of land-grabbing that most seem to favor.
Also, I didn't say the decision entirely made sense, Governments do dumb things sometimes, and cultures develop blind spots. I'm just beating the rush and making my mistakes before anyone else can.

You aren't going overboard with the concept, so it's cool.

Four letters for you. UNSC. You won't find boarding me the easiest thing in the world.
Of course, being a grand power, you can just crush me beneath your boot heel, but hey, we all have our little vanities.
Hello. Can I come in?

Fisher, the concepts of power armored and genetically modified supersoldiers and a railgun-dependent navy are hardly unique things.
