What I seem to get from you guys is that the Trekkies that made these arguments are too stupid to live.
The borg adapting to superlasers is real stupid, seeing as how they can't adapt to a Clonetrooper-like heavy weapon like that, how will they adapt to a planet-destroying blast?
The "tractor beam Pluto into an ISD" is also stupid, because the ISD's shields are much, much stronger than TIE shields, because the TIEs have no shields, and if they do, it's not enough to stop me throwing a rock at them, and while the Enterprise is taking Pluto into the ISD, the ISD shoots Pluto, turns it into some floating asteroids, and then shoots the Enterprise, destroying it's petty shields, and the ship itself.
These trekkies need to do some research before saying anything.
By the way, I'm new. I hope I enjoy my stay here. :D

"I am confident that just the U.S.S. Defiant alone could take out an entire fleet of SW era ships. With its Ablative armor it can withstand a dozen PHASER blasts, much less wimpy turbo lasers...and thats with NO SHIELDS UP. The Defiants phasers are more powerful than the rest of the Federation ships, and it is also more manueverable. The Defiant was built to battle the Borg, and could easily mop up any SW era threats. Anyone who has actually seen the Defiant in action can verify that it single-handedly took out dozens of ships during single battles during the Dominion War...and those ships it took out were WAY more advanced and powerful than any SW era ship."

Here are a few that came a long time ago on the Infiltration Off Topic Forum:
"oh yeah, and ALL the weapons in Star Wars are all based on light... (expect protons, but those are only thermal)

omfg, the Death Star is gonna shine a flashlight in Worf's eyes! SSSSSSSSSSSsssss! "

"A Phaser operates at a wavelength beyond anything that a shield in the StarWars universe could stop. Not even the armor and shielding on the Sun Crusher would be able to fend off a single phaser blast from a Star Trek capital ship. A single shuttleraft from the Enterprise E could not only outrun and outmanuever the Sun Crusher, but it could carve it's pilot's initials on the 'Crushers side if it wanted to."

"Its a well known fact that Proton Torpedos have a guidance system that locks onto the engine signatures of spacecraft or thier profiles. Sadly, because the Enterprise-E's warp-signature is not detectable is regular space and it is capable of outrunning the torps or simply jamming thier guidance systems, the topredos would be useless."

"The turbolasers could easily melt an X-Wing into a puddle of liquid plasteel... too bad the Enterprise's shields are impervious to that wavelength."

"What about the TIE fighters? Two words, subspacial mines. A single mine, should it detonate, would destroy all small craft (or large craft, for that matter) within about 20 parsecs... unless they were either in A) Hyperspace, or B) Could outrun the shockwave."

"What about the superlaser!? Yeah well... wanna know why the deathstar was able to destroy the New Republic's capitalship with it? Because the ship was moving slowly, and directly into the line of fire of the Deathstar. The superlaser would not be able to lock-on to the enterprise to hit it. It was designed to hit very LARGE, as in planetary-sized, immobile objects and the like."

"But wait! The ENTIRE "[Note: emphasis mine]" Imperial armada drops out of hyperspace! What will the Enterprise doooo?!?! To make it remotely fair, we'll say that the Imperials have all 5 Super Star Destroyers, 80 Interdictor Cruisers, 50 Dreadnaughts, 60 Nebulon-B Frigates, 100 Victory-Class Star Destroyers, and the baddest bully on the block, the Eclipse-Class Star Destroyer.

Now, the fight begins. All 80 interdictors power up thier gravity well projectors, to prevent the Enterprise from entering hyperspace... too bad it doesn't travel in hyperspace. The entire fleet is arrayed for battle... and the Enterprise sits about 12000meters outside thier range, and as they close, it fires a few volleys of quantum torpedos. The torps pass through the pathetic ray shielding (which only protects against lasers) and the static shielding (which can stop physical objects moving at sublight speeds) and easily vaporizes anything it hits. The energy output of a single quantum torpedo is the equivalent of over 41,000 proton torpedos. Not even a Super Star Destroyer can withstand that. The Enterprise E, after destroying 4 out of five Super's, about half of the Victory's, and taking a good sized chunk out of the fleet of dreadnaughts, accelerates towards the oncoming imperials at sublight speed. Upon entering the range of the imperials, it performs something known as the Picard Manuever. It enters warp speed, around warp 5, and drops out of warp behind the imperial fleet. This happens faster than the speed of light, so for an instant, the imperials believe the enterprise is still right in front of them, because its image is there. The image suddenly disappears and for some odd reason the imperials get beaten from behind. The Eclipse takes a full 2 minutes to do an about-face, and by that time, it's dead. The eclipse star destroyers are easily disabled byt imed quantum torpedos, because they were in perfect imperial-mandated battle formation... tsk tsk.

At this point, we have about 20 dreadnaughts, and one or two operational star destroyers, and possbily a super star destroyer running on emergency power. It's time for the Imperials to pack it up and go home."

I have to admit that I haven't seen these arguments anywhere else. :)

More importantly, the Enterprise D has never shown the ability to alter the trajectory of such a massive body, even slightly. It is highly likely that it has no such ability to use such a tactic.

And TIE fighters do not use shields.

D. Turtle, where do you think that Trekkie got those ideas? He thinks that a powerful gravity well won't stop an ST ship going into warp, and phasers are superior to SW turbolasers for no reason.

I was told a-matter-of-factly that even a runabout could take a Death Star's superlaser because lasers don't do squat against fed ships. I nearly broke my arm falling off the chair laughing!

The very idea that a any Star Trek ship can take the power of a Laser capable of destroying a planet is luducris. maybe should send them to Ludicris Speed. --My Brains are going into my feet-- Dark Helmet

Where the hell is that forum? I'd recommend that you post the URL for an Imperial Invasion, except DarkStar probably would come in and "rescue" the poor Trekkies.....

Alright ... this IDIOTIC no laser argument- what about the Borg cutting laser then? They CALLED it a laser, so it MUST be one, according to Trekkies, and what's more, its sliced up the E-D hull like butter. Do the fanatics have an answer for this (most Trekkie's aren't this FUCKING THICK are they?)

LMSx: If you mean my quotes: It was in the Infiltration Off Topic (infiltration.sentrystudios.com - there is a link there).
It was however just a one time thread to the Topic. There haven't been any further discussions on the SWvST topic as all the people who posted something to the SWvST topic were laughed at by the rest of the people for taking Science Fiction that seriously. So the whole topic lasted 2(!) pages. :D

Where did he get this "wavelength"?
"Its a well known fact that Proton Torpedos have a guidance system that locks onto the engine signatures of spacecraft or thier profiles. Sadly, because the Enterprise-E's warp-signature is not detectable is regular space and it is capable of outrunning the torps or simply jamming thier guidance systems, the topredos would be useless."
Useless, except for the powerful impact!
"The turbolasers could easily melt an X-Wing into a puddle of liquid plasteel... too bad the Enterprise's shields are impervious to that wavelength."
Once again, where did he get that BS?
"What about the TIE fighters? Two words, subspacial mines. A single mine, should it detonate, would destroy all small craft (or large craft, for that matter) within about 20 parsecs... unless they were either in A) Hyperspace, or B) Could outrun the shockwave."
Where did he get that, again? And does he even know how big a parsec is?
"What about the superlaser!? Yeah well... wanna know why the star was able to destroy the New Republic's capitalship with it? Because the ship was moving slowly, and directly into the line of fire of the star. The superlaser would not be able to lock-on to the enterprise to hit it. It's nice this numnut isn't completely oblivious to common sense.
Even with that much, the Enterprise is toast. And the Empire has far more than that.
I will not comment on this extreme idiocy.

It's time for this Trekkie to pack up and go to the insane asylum.

oh, my another person that tries to apply the rules of the Star Trek Mythos to the rest of Sci-Fi, and ends up giving everyone headaches instead.

I am beginning to think the Outer Gods of the Lovecraftian Eldrich Lore manufacture these things to drive us all insane with their non-eucladian argumenitive form.
