Did you see the FFVII tech demo? Geez, I thought taking away the manga styling would be bad, but when it's that good, damn.

The thing about that FF7 Tech Demo is that Square-Enix just pulled a Zelda. Meaning they just showed as a tech demo something a lot of fans want like Nintendo did with the Spaceworld Zelda tech demo.
Of course now we're getting Twilight Princess, so maybe Square-Enix might do the real thing along the way... Or it could just be wishful thinking.

Sony has clearly won E3. MS had too many fuckups pre-E3 (PD0) and during their conference. All this talk about zen and that bullshit. Nintendo has shown us Revolution, and all we know about it hardware-wise is that it's gonna be weak compared to everything else. They had no fucking reason for witholding info on the controller, which is supposed to be what sets it apart from everything else. Sony and MS have shown their controllers and wouldn't be in a position to steal any ideas... they're too far in their own development timelines anyway. Nintendo could have shown the control scheme, a few games in action, and left the final hardware specs up in the air.

well if your dissappointed its your own fault. Ninty said this wasnt going to be revolutions coming out party. They said there would be very little new info on Rev at E3. I'd like to know more but im satisfied just seeing the sexy thing. The new zelda trailer was godly. The new ds footage was godly. I'm satisfied.

They could've not acted the fool and revealed a bit more than that. We know what they said, but E3 is where people are expecting to see the next gen from everyone.

Yea... Cause you know.. Free online with downloads of the 1st party games from all their old consoles is disappointing.
Just.. Damn. That's worth the console simply for the cost of all those old games.

I'm pretty sure they didn't want to come to the table completely empty handed. Especially with the other companies showing off their next gen stuff.

What's with all the PS3 fanwhores crowing victory 'cuz of "superior hardware"? Weren't they the guys screaming that only the games matter just four years ago?
Too much juice squirtin' 'round this thread, man.

Getaway 3 pics: holy fuck. Compared to PD0s lacklustre demonstration, MS definately came out worse this week. I actually WANT a PS3 now, and I wasn't going to buy another console.
Revolution totally backwards compatible? Best idea ever. I see I'll have the Sony/Nintendo pair again this time around.

Come on Nintendo, don't let me down
Aries claimed it outperformed the XBox 360 graphics-wise but not the PS3...gah...was he fake? Was he correct? We'll see...
Nitendo is saying that look at what they've done without those massive numbers, saying it may not have massive numbers, but has the games to back itself up.
Their comparing the GBA to PS2 in units sold.
Also, DS > PSP.
EDIT: Pie chart shows the hand held market throughout the years... 94% Nitendo....
FUCk I love live.
Turns out- it was an error.
The Revolution is
NOT three times more powerful than the GameCube!

E3 2005: Revolution Official Name?
Posted by Conor - May 17th 2005 17:42
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Turns out 'Revolution' may be more than just a codename...
With less than half an hour until Nintendo's E3 conference begins, reputable site Club Skill are reporting that 'Revolution' (previously thought to be a prototype name for Nintendo's next home console) will in fact be the official name; either in that form or as "Revolution System" (RS). If this is true, it is very surprising news.
The article also claims that details published earlier in the day about the console's meagre power (in comparison with PS3 and Xbox360) were errorous, and that it will sport technical prowess on its competitors' level. This, at least, would be welcome news.
Stay tuned for confirmation of this news, and more, in the next hour or so.

Okay, now I'm a feeling a lot more confident about developers being able to take advantage of the PS3's hardware:
RALEIGH, May 17th, 2005 - Epic Games, one of the world's leading developers of cutting-edge computer and video game titles and the pioneer of the award-winning Unreal ® Engine, announced today that it intends to offer its Unreal Engine 3 technology and tools under Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.'s Tools and Middleware program for "PLAYSTATION ®3" as soon as the license program is started.
"We are committed to making Unreal Engine 3 the best game engine for the "PLAYSTATION ®3", said Tim Sweeney, CEO and co-Founder of Epic Games. "We plan to offer it to our licensees as soon as the program is underway and we are very excited about the level of performance and visual quality we will be able to deliver on this platform. In addition Unreal Engine 3 should be an excellent fit for the platform and our licensees will benefit immensely from the experience we have been able to gain thus far working with it."
VE3D
Given Epic's track record, they should be able to take maximum advantage of the PS3's hardware, and the UE3 dev tools are supposed to be extremely friendly.

That's excellent news: the U3 engine looks quite flash, and using middleware may mitigate any Sony-esque development problems.
And I'll be able to play Alien Swarm on it

Heh. I was planning on upgrading my PC for gaming, but now, I don't know. The XBox 360 has a bunch of titles I want, and the PS3 is beginning to look more and more impressive. And then there's Nintendo's "Lets play every game ever made"...

tell me about it. The next generation of PC will probably require yet another new powerfull videocard while you have a console for the same price. I always have been a die hard pc gamer but I think I'll skipp an upgrade and buy a console instead

I hate to admit it but it does seem so far that Sony will be bringing a truly great system out this time and I may very well end up getting it. PS1 and PS2 just weren't appealing to me (Dreamcast and Xbox were superior IMO) but it seems like this time around they may have something truly great, so long as the actual games end up looking like the demos they have shown.
I do plan on getting Xbox 360 still (for Halo 3 at the very least), but PS3 does so far seem like it could be a very worthwhile system with its revealed capabilities and the fact that its using the nextgen Blu Ray format was a very smart move and one that I think Xbox 360 will suffer from in the long run for not matching.
So far the only thing that really bugs me about the PS3 is the controller but thats a small price to pay since their will likely be different designs along the way to chose from. Also, I am a little bit suspicious about the 1080p support.... Their aren't even any affordable TV's out yet that support such a resolution and I have a feeling it will end up being much like the original Xbox's claim of games with 720p and 1080i (meaning it just won't be fulfilled accept for a very few select titles if any at all)

The UT2007 demo was done at 720P resolution - which is still damn impressive.
The Xbox 360 has just about every game I want - Elder Scrolls IV, Quake, CoD2, Gears of War... I'm betting UT2007 will end up on it as well.
I can probably get all three consoles for less than the cost of a new gaming PC - and I can play on my 42" wide screen and 5.1 speakers... DAMN!!!! I WANT THEM NOW!!!!
