This particular bean counter just things the money to protect the planet should be spent differently (i.e. building more ships like Daedelus instead of at the SGC).
I guess I find that more believeable ... they probably build really expensive Daedelus components in his district and it's a pork project for him .... but come on, they were going to get smoked by Anubis' fleet without the Ancient weapon, SG-teams have proven to be a hugely more valuable bang-for-buck than interstellar warships.

This was actually the first episode this season of SG1 that I noticed they were using the Atlantis gate effect instead of the regular ones. I had noticed that in the titles, but this was the first time I noticed it in the actual show.

Yeah, and I think that was a VFX goof. Though we could potentialy say that this planet might have had a new style gate on it.

If they keep doing it, we could write it off as a software update of some form triggered when they dialled back from Atlantis to Earth. Not a nice explanation, but still.

Or if we don't see those Stargates, we can write it off to there being a limited number of the new gates in the Milky Way.

Did anyone else notice that the weapon that Valla pointed at the Jaffa weapons dealer looked suspiciously like a pulse pistol? True, the barrel was the wrong shape, but it was funny nonetheless.

As for the gate visuals. It could be that since by all known understanding of travelling through the wormhole, you can't SEE anything. So why would you be able to see different style wormholes? I'm pretty confident that it in no way touches the area of "In Universe Consistency". It's for looking pretty!

It's not a goof, they're just updating graphics so the two shows don't have radically different gate travel. That's like saying Trek ships were completely rebuilt when they switched from physical model to CGI.

Big fucking difference between the old gate travel and the new travel. And give fucking difference when first season SGA used a different gate effect compared to season 8 SG1.

I'm sorry, I'll remove the needless fucking, I thought it was a trend to keep up with your posts. Oh and I'm glad this was not some way to dodge my obvious point.

Yeah, a visual that absolutely no one appears to see in-universe.

In Rising, the gate travel was Atlantis-style but out of Earth's gate.

Humans are most definately aware of their ride through the wormhole. Its been said as much. Early gate travel made people sick no less. In the movie the soldiers were commenting on what a rush and what a ride it was.

Aware now means "See what it is like to travel through a wormhole. Stars in the background and everything." So do they also hear the spiffy wooshing sound? Funny how this was never commented on, ever in the universe.

Oh hey, I almost forgot! There was one incident where we find that travel through the gate is near instantaneous, with an episode of SG-1 where they cut out the sequence and show them stepping directly across (name and number escape me, but your better than DVD knowledge probably remembers). Or maybe you'll theorise some kind of time dialation thing. Based on nothing at all. As long as it supports your theories, lets make up any old shit!

Is that why Teal'c was aware of all that time he spent in the buffer (you know, where they're kept when they're a cloud of atoms?) in some episode?

People who are disassembled at the atomic level do not see.

The buffer isn't the same thing.

Funny how you didn't counter my points on people talking about the travel itself.

Based on what? Atleast I'm working from examples here. Give me something to back up your claims. It's not surprising that people are aware of being DEMOLECULARISED, but this in no way proves they are aware of the travel itself. Or time spent. Or the sound. Or the way it looks.

Ever heard of conjecture?

Akaramu Shinja, what does it fucking matter whether gate travellers can fucking see the effect or not? The point is that it's suddenly different in Season 9.

Are you saying that being energy travelling through a wormhole is different than being energy stored in a buffer? And somehow you experience everything from the travel part, but not the buffer part. Which episode are you gathering this from?

Ok, what's the buffer and how does it not being "the same thing" as a person being transmitted not whole that prove disassembled people can see, Dr. McKay?
Funny how you didn't counter my points on people talking about the travel itself.
If I was atomized and reconstituted in a different location a second or so later, I'd be a little disoriented.

Or are you taking evidence from the movie which has gate travel leave ice on travellers? And Abydos in a different galaxy?

Does your post matter?

It matters if they can see, because Alyeska is making up in-universe reasons behind something that is more than likely not an in-universe known fact. Making baseless claims when facts stand against those possibilities is retarded, and I thought totally against the point of debating on this board.
