Does the sniper rifle award actually work? I get the "reward", and it's a lower-zoom scope, tiny clip, and doesn't seem to do any damage to anything. The bolt appears to hit, but nobody dies!

Not entirely correct; in the Beta, I had the same problem. If you go to the controls, you can change the controls to be exactly like SWBF1, where A and D make hard turns.
So a more accurate statement is, the DEFAULT configuration is much worse than SWBF1. If you change around the controls to be like SWBF1, plus stuff like rolling and boosting, it's much better.
I could be wrong, but I thought the "assisted turns" options when using a mouse/keyboard for vehicles were added after the beta.
With those this option, it seems to aproximate SWBF1 flight control. Without it, you need a flight stick to not suck.

The way around "lag" is to host your own server.
I don't know why people don't do that. Are they all on dialup?
Let's face it, unless a miracle happens and they release a linux server, there just aren't going to be lots of lag free servers. SWBF1 has 26 servers right now, all on windows (big surprise!).
I was actually pretty impressed with the space controls. Of course, the first thing I do when I get a game is go into options and rebind all the controls to my liking. Regardless, they feel quite natural, much better than the TIE Fighter/X-Wing series games and a million times better than the confusing lagfest of SWBF1.
Bah, I've played better. The main annoyance I have is the forced throttle. Your ship is constantly hurtling forward unless you hold down the button (and even then you're still cruising along pretty good). I thought that kind of gameplay went out with the maze craze of the 80's! And don't anybody say that this is realism and physics, because it does the same thing in atmosphere... and whatever happened to reverse thrusters? Your ship can only travel one direction!

the reward sniper rifle is very sensitive, even a little off on the aim will result in a miss. It doesn't do any more damage than the regular sniper rifle, but it will pass through multiple targets.

hmmn, lag seems to be the worst on space-maps. On normal maps, it can get bad, but most of the time it runs pretty smoothly.
Best play I've gotten so far is on "Heroes vs Villians" servers.

So, has lucas arts announced a patch yet?

Does it have a maximum range? At long distance, I'll have the entire crosshair dot covered by the target, fire 3 shots while they stand still, and still not even scratch them. But up close, it seems to work fine.

I'm curious, what resolution are you running it at, and which map are you talking about?
My guess is that your playing Genosis, since that's pretty much the only level that's open enough for long-range sniping to be a viable tactic, but I don't use the sniper rifle past a certain range, as it's not an instant-hit weapon.

Nope, Kamino, sniping at far platforms (single player, not online). With the standard sniper rifle, I can hit anything I see, the bots stand still often enough to get headshots at decent range. But then with the "reward" rifle, the shot is good, but it doesn't do any damage.
And now after playing it for a decent amount of time, I can say it's worth buying. The ground battles are ok, but a bit underwhelming, but the space battles more than make up for it. The only thing I really miss is the maps with starfighters available on the ground. My favorite part of the first game was flying bombing runs with the starfighters, so it's disappointing to see it removed for this game.

what screen resolution are you running at?

Tried it at all resolutions, no difference. Though I think I found the problem, and it's absolutely the worst hitbox setup I've ever seen. Instead of having to hit them "right between the eyes", you have to hit them right between the legs. I guess it's not surprising you can kill male imperials effectively, but it's unbelievably stupid. Headshots, chest shots... none of them count. But hit the one bizarre hitbox, and it's one-shot kill.

Tycho, go to nZone(I think that's what it is) and download the 81.78 beta driver. It might not be that exact number, but it's close. Battlefront 2 works perfect for me now

That Hoth mission in the campaign was incredibly fun. Now I've just got those Galactic Domination missions or whatever they're called.
Also, a 40k mod for this game would give me joygasms.

Well, I don't know how much this is worth, but I get crotch shots all the time in Silent Scope.

Nothing can touch a skilled player who's using the Engineer (Flechette Shotgun, you'll be mowing down guys in no time) or a Dark Trooper (the Arc Welder has been GREATELY improved; EXTREMELY DEADLY). Total massacre...I'd hate to be the Droids or the Rebels.

nitpick, but there is no Arc Welder. It's an Arc
Caster.
And I beg to differ. A skilled player with an Elite Rifle can get one-salvo kills from a range that the Engineer and Dark Trooper simply can't hope to match, even with reward weapons (well, the Dark Trooper can use the precision pistol, which is pretty powerful, so that's not entirely true).
With both the Engineer and Dark Trooper, you do massive damage, but at cost of range and rate of fire.

I was referring to basic weapons of the two classes, having been non-upgraded. Granted, the flechette shotgun is an upgrade. Having said that, the normal shotgun is incredibly deadly in its own right, as is the arc caster. A skilled player using both basic weapons can inflict heavy damage.
Again, with that said, upgraded weapons pack quite a wallop. A skilled player can use these reward weapons to wreak total havoc. (i.e. the Elite Rifle)

RAR, precision pistol FTW!!!
But seriously, the award pistol is pretty insane (especially on space maps). I've gotten two-shot kills from that thing, the tricky bit is getting the required 8 kills with the regular pistol.

Ok, why exactly did they restrict combat to GR/CIS and GE/RA? I mean for the Campaign missions I can understand(although you can have a GE/GR combat), but free play should be just that.
Also hero being restricted to map kind of sucks.

Ack, dling the new nvidia drivers did nothing but make Battlefield 2 slower. Battlefront 2 is still just as crash prone.

Does anyone have the PS2 version? If so, could you tell me if it's a blue disk or a normal one?
I'm sorry if this doesn't fit for this thread, but it seemed a bit wasteful to make a thread just for this question.

It's incredibly scary trying to fight Yoda as an SBD on Kashykk. I was running across the lake, and all you could see was this little ripple going across the the water and then a lightsaber flashing around just above it as it slices droids apart.
It was like Jaws or something.

Yoda is impressive. But he doesn't even compare to Darth Maul.
