That's not a mountain....it's just a little hill...Darth Wong wrote:In this thread, you claimed that the Enterprise fired on a 6 km high mountain and destroyed it with their phasers. Luckily, one of my Bothan spies provided screenshots of the event in question, and guess what: pictures don't lie, but you do:
Enterprise firing
Impact on what you describe as a "6 km high mountain"
Small wonder you repeatedly ignored my demands for screenshots, eh? No one in his right mind is going to see that and think "6 km high mountain". Worthless little fucktard bullshitter troll ...

If we neglect the trivial initial separation of the beams and assume an angle of 10 degrees of a straight line, The Enterprise would have to have been about 11,000 km away.

Anyone who doesn't understand the most basic economics policy after TWO attempts to explain it is unlikely to understand how the angle of the weapons could affect the scaling of the "mountain." We may be wasting our time.

Everyone's said that. It's pretty laughable that Sovereign ignored it.Durandal wrote:I forgot to mention that we have to neglect the fact that the beams are converging upon impact with the mountain.

Gravity causes beams to beam. As such all your images demonstrate it that it is a *really* big hill with a *lot* of gravity.

Except that if the beams were effected by gravity, they'd be bent downward toward the center of gravity of the planetoid itself, not a mountain on top of it. Even so, gravity does not effect energy beams that dramatically, even a solar mass will only bend such a beam a tiny amount. A mountain on a planet would not cause energy beams to dramatically change directions as to make the beams converge.Lord Edam wrote:The trekkie who brought out a mountain but took home a hillDurandal wrote:I forgot to mention that we have to neglect the fact that the beams are converging upon impact with the mountain.

I do hope you are joking, Edam, because I fail to see how someone could seriously put forth your argument.

You've got to be joking. If it had a lot of gravity, it wouldn't be a hill; it would have smoothed itself out.Lord Edam wrote:The trekkie who brought out a mountain but took home a hillDurandal wrote:I forgot to mention that we have to neglect the fact that the beams are converging upon impact with the mountain.

Re: Hey Sovereign, you lying sack of shit ...
I apologize for resurrecting this thread but it seemed to be the most appropriate. I just wanted to add an additional imagine and hear everyones comments on it. Does this image reveal any new findings? Or should we still consider that "mountain" to be really just a large hill?
I've added the original two pictures for clarity.
Enterprise firing
Impact on what you describe as a "6 km high mountain"
Thanks to www.ditl.org for the the third capture.

How does that third picture change anything? Is this moon supposed to be huge or something? And why don't we see the cliffs surrounding the hill in that shot?

The scow is clearly meant to be firing into the crater. The only problem with that explosion's size? it's a) crap, in that the crater walls have vanished and b) there's nothing to measure it against. That moon could be smaller than Phobos.

I don't see that this changes anything. That moon just appears to be tiny, now.

I never said it was suppose to change anything. I suspected that it wouldn't change anything to begin with, but on the chance this would fill in a piece of missing information I posted it.Darth Wong wrote:How does that third picture change anything? Thus the conclusion is it doesn't change anything. Okay, thank you everyone for your time.
