Bookworm. I have two book shelves but my books could easily take up three or four. I had to double up but I always like putting my books in alphabetical or chronological order. I'm planning on buying some books on subjects to help me out (starting out with Physics for Dummies just because I know nothing.)
As I tell my friends at school who don't understand why I love scifi, though we all love anime and go to Nekocon every year, I just say: "There is nothing wrong with being a geek, so long as you admit it. Within reasonable limits."

Bookworm. Love reading but hate it also as I cannot focus well on other thing(including seeing a wall in front)...but I will use this to help rather than letting book take over my life. Luckily I know which line to stop and become a dork.
Am I the only person where playing sports but cannot study well is scorned by others, and can only study but dunno how to play sports is also scorned except being well or at least moderate in both areas?

Listen, all you cosplay apologists need to just sit down and admit that nobody who is not a hot young woman has ever looked like anything other than a fucking idiot in one of those costumes.
Ever.
Ever.
If Religion and Politics were characters on a soap opera, Religion would be the one that goes insane with jealousy over Politics' intimate relationship with Reality, and secretly murder Politics in the night, skin the corpse, and run around its apartment wearing the skin like a cape shouting "My votes now! All votes for me! Wheeee!" -- Lagmonster

I need to admit nothing of the sort. What you are saying only applies to people of inappropriate body type choosing a costume that they have no business wearing, or lazy assholes who spend insufficent effort on getting the look right.LordShaithis wrote:Listen, all you cosplay apologists need to just sit down and admit that nobody who is not a hot young woman has ever looked like anything other than a fucking idiot in one of those costumes.

Just because you happen to be a bitter asshole who can only appreciate talent if it comes with boobs, doesn't mean the rest of us have to strive to emulate you.

That may be, but I am hesitant to heckle anyone for his choice of hobby. It would just make me into a slightly different version of Bryan Lambert. I think the problem comes when you are taking it too far - though there's no objective truth in what is too far. Bryan thinks we are going too far, and I disagree because I find it an important issue. I have no idea how anyone can consider toy collecting, costume play, and MST3K particularly important compared to intellectual activities, but its still a subjective issue. In subjective cases you have to go by numbers to define a norm, I guess. Personally I would say Bryan went too far, but I'm not going to say that everyone who enjoys costume play is. I've seen pictures of a guy dressing up as anime girls - complete with a facial mask to be able to fully get into the role - and I was left bewildered at the thought of someone actually wanting to do that, in a serious manner. But, does that also mean that say, the 501st Vader's Fist are idiots? I doubt it.LordShaithis wrote:Listen, all you cosplay apologists need to just sit down and admit that nobody who is not a hot young woman has ever looked like anything other than a fucking idiot in one of those costumes.

No, what I'm saying applies to every single cosplayer in the entire universe. Every last one of them looks like a fucking idiot. Frankly even the hot chicks look pretty stupid, it's just that I don't care in their case.consequences wrote:I need to admit nothing of the sort. And you know, I thought to myself that maybe I was generalizing too much. Then I googled "cosplay image" and browsed around for a little bit. Seriously, I think my brain is bleeding now.
To wit:
Hot chick!
That outfit looks pretty stupid, but who cares?! Holy shit! Then there's this guy...
Some dude.
I picked this one because it was easily the least stupid-looking thing I could find. The guy isn't fat, and the production of his costume is high-quality. He still looks like somebody's accountant brother in an expensive Halloween costume with a laughably large sword. Outside of a Halloween party, he looks like a fucking idiot.
