I've yet to work out what Pathfinders are good for. Ironically, I use my Stealtsuits as my primary infantry, as they can rape so many infantry units due to invisibility.

Those stealth suits are fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. Kroot are also great, that leap is worth its' weight in gold. They also have quite possibly the best commander in the game with them too.
Oh and that missile tank with it's salvos....wrong. So wrong. I can see a use for pathfinders for sure. Thier fire slows enemy movement and I for one as Tau would like every second of fire I can get against Berzerkers or Termies.

Pathfinder shots cause enemy units to slow down. Their marking ability causes enemy units to receive double or triple damage from other friendlies. They have long sight range and can detect.
Their purpose becomes pretty obvious. They work in conjunction with other Tau units and enhance their overall damaging ability.

Aye, that Kroot leap is a great ability. Also, has anyone noticed just how much extra HP you can gain with the eat corpse ability? I think it max's out at +200, which must be around a 50% boost.

I assume he means the Whirlwinds.
Has anyone worked out why the stealth suits seem to periodically decloak? Turrets can clearly detect them but it seems sometimes they just appear.

How's the balancing? It always pisses me off to see IG getting the short end of the stick in WA and the Space Marines being less than uber. Please don't tell me the Tau are all t3h shit, with the Marines being their bitches

The Tau as they are would own DoW. Stealth suits are just great and 6 squads (1 command each!) will cut a dreadnought to pieces before they loose a guy to it's return fire, assuming they're detected. Fire warriors I'd wager could outshoot anyone else in the game (possibly not Flash Gitz), so much so they felt the need to exclude the Tau from having turrets. Essentially a FW squad is far more dangerous.
Kroot are great. Tough, regenerative and the leap ability gives them Disrupt. Send them in first, they'll disrupt the enemy heavy weapons and your FW will clean them up. They're like cheap, highly mobile artillery that never misses and disrupts constantly if you have them on move orders (and if not they engage, which is just as good). They're also cheap.
The Skyray, or Skyshark or whatever it is is also brutal. Anything that can wipe out a marine squad, and I mean a full squad, with a singe attack is overpowered. Sure they're fragile but their normal guns outrange turrets. And that special attack is on a 45 sec timer. They're also dirt cheap and only 2 command. The special attack is also effective against vehicles.
Crisis suits seem good. The rest of the Tau army is so good they seem sub standard by comparison but they're likely balanced.
The commander....what a gun. He's just six kinds of great. Fast, tough, jump capable, can kill a marine with two hits of his missile pack while he guns another down with a few shots from his plasma gun, all from outside the marines attack range. Once they get close enough he'll start flaming them too. Of course he comes with the ability to trap a section of the map (every 10 seconds) to slow people down. He can also instant kill one enemy trooper. You can rest assured it's going to be your heavy weapon. He's just fantastic.
I'd love to tell you about pathfinders but honestly I didn't make them. You can finish the demo with nothing but stealth suits, the rest is window dressing. The tanks need a serious rebalance.
[Edit] This is of course assuming the marines are accurate and are not rebalanced in and of themselves. I noticed that unlike DoW/WA the demo does not support dual screen, and my first attept to play met with my cursor moving onto my desktop everytime I wanted to pan right. I wouldn't be surprised if the Tau are overpowered just to show them off here.

I fucking hope the Space Marines, fuck, the Imperial Guard, beat them like red haired stepchildren.
Dark Crusade's the name, right? Does it mean we get to use Black Templars?

The Marines have been Nerfed for the demo, in the actual game they wont be going down so easily. As for who your facing, your up against several companies of Blood Ravens, trying to ensure that no one finds out about their history.

What's up with the part about the "unknown primarch"? OOhh... backstory...
I think the answer to Tau units are expendable scouts and disrupting artillery. Lots of artillery. And jump-pack units.
That being said, I think that the Guard actually might be effective against the Tau. Weakness of the bog standard guardsman aside, grenade launchers + chimeras + leman russ + basilisk should keep the tau disrupted enough for your guardsmen to drive up in those chimeras, unload, and go HAND TO HAND! Or you can just keep them shooting, tie up some firewarriors with priests, and execute a guardsman with a commisar. Just watch out for those skyrays though, they miss a lot, but when they hit, you know it....
Also, someone got the kroot commander unit? how?

That's the SMs sending skull probes into your base. They're detectors now.
Occasionally you can spot the skull probes. That would be your strat, crit, or relic points detecting them.
In DC, all races' points can detect a very short distance around them.

Was anyone suprised in mission 2 by the 10 man squads all with heavy bolters/Missle launchers? That mission was just weird in general. Really bizzare unit choices they made for the marines.

Someone managed to find some nice info like the complete list of Necron buildings and units, a lot of abilities, and some other info like the fact that Wraiths can also detect.

Oh. In that case, you send one of your uber-broken rocket tanks and kill it. It's not hard.

Yes, the Blood Ravens don't know which chapter was their primogenitor.
Wikipedia has an article on the subject. I don't have any other sources, though I did page through the novel once and it seems accurate to what I read.

Well, yeah. That's pretty much what I had to work with. That and the White Dwarf article.

Hmmmm. Actually, this last time I simply equipped my stealth squads with fusion blasters and jump packs and sent them to kill the Whirlwind. Worked marvelously.

Maybe they got a lot done earlier than expected and pulled the date forward, but it's probably not true, since although the single player demo's coming out friday, there's supposedly a multiplayer demo coming out in October.
Doesn't make sense to release a demo THAT far behind the game.
Amazon says October 9.

You know if the Blood Ravens were created by THQ, or GW?

Neither, they were made by Relic (with approval from GW).

I believe it was Relic, the company that developed Dawn of War, and that they did so with GW's approval/guidance.

So Relic made them for DoW, and GW picked them up and ran with it?

During the pre-production, Relic said to GW, "hay guyz we want 2 make a new chapter kk? :):):)" and so GW said "Let it be so," and it was good.
