Kais is a generic Tau name meaning 'skilled'. So Shas'o Kais literally translates as Fire Caste (The warrior caste) Commander (Probably around a General) Skilled.

As a tau achieves more they get more names, for example the commander kown as Farsight also has another 4 or 5 names in his full title. This one in game looks to be skilled but still a bit new to the rank as s/he has only got one name.

Also the Kais from Firewarrior got put in a "re-education" centre at the end of the novel and i doubt he 'recovered' and made Shas'o.

SirNitram wrote:Blood Ravens are officially looney. 'Charge the Monolith!' Yea, it's the size of a building and surrounded by troops. Let's charge it instead of a fighting retreat to some heavy weapons.
Well, you could see Predators firing on the monolith in the background. Which means they probably should have just taken cover.

You'll notice that they were rather surrounded at the time...

Something interesting. The text on the bottom right seems to say

Panrez Lowlands
743 M41
then a string of indecipherable characters.

And it's a dreadnought for sure. Look at the way the mechwarrior style heading guage at the bottom is zeroed on the direction his legs are facing, not on north.

Presumably, he's a CC dreadnought, which would explain why he was so anxious to close with the enemy, and why it took heavy weapons to take him down.

It would also explain why he absolutely tore up that Wraith in front of him. Oh wait.

Huh.
It seems that the commanders for the Eldar and Orcs are our old buddies Farseer Taldeer and Warboss Gorgutz. Who aren't dead for some reason. I guess this means that the guard won on Lorn V. Will we again see the same Chaos and Guard commanders? General Sturm was cool, but will he be forced to fight the Blood Ravens?
Also, the Wargear? Beautiful. I want my commander COVERED in eye candy. Pointy sticks with lots of heads on, plenty of double headed eagles, drones flying all over the place, and all that good stuff.
I'll start with the Necrons, then play Guard, and then Tau. After that, I'll play what I like.

That probably means the Eldar won, actually, since if the Guard wins, Sturnn leaves Taldeer outside to die.

But she also, you know, blows up the Titan in a giant plasma bomb that should have destroyed everything on the map. And Taldeer might have just decided to cut her losses and run for the webway gate when she got stuck outside the Shield.

The novelization of WA or something says that she was the only one to escape and survive from that particular mess.

That won't help her standing with the rest of the Eldar :)

And if it ties in with the DOW Ascension (spits) novel, it will be interesting to see the repercussions in the Biel-Tan.

Is that why she's got Ulthwe (unless I'm wrong) colors in DC? :P

Preeetty in HD!

Oh. That cameraman has to be a marine, or human-sized figure. It's at the same height as everyone else, and is killed by a stabbing. Probably a combatant, since it locked onto some silouettes, so most likely a marine.

On the bottom right of that HUD is the date, "740 M41"

A Sargeant possibly?

Eh. Nephtys is right; it's a marine. I, with my great intelligence, um, forgot that Dreadnoughts are 4 meters tall.

(I think he got his hands eaten by grots. Poor fellow. [Maybe they'll add some bolterfire from him for the final release.])

Incidentally, I'm pretty sure that the Blood Ravens need to demote all their sergeants and recruit some new ones from among the mildly compitant among their ranks. That's the second time they've gone and charged madly at a vastly superior opponent across wide-open terrain in stead of advancing carefully in support of armor, or making a fighting retreat while waiting for reinforcements.

The problem about making an advance supported by armor is that the Blood Ravens have that whole "Flesh before Steel" or whatever disadvantage that is. They don't have many tanks at all. Probably one or two Land Raiders in the entire company. Skilled psychers aside, the masses of Tactical squads are the basis of their battle tactics.
Maybe the reason we've seen two sargents charge strong points is because they were both cut off for reinforcement. Better to die spitting in your enemey's eye than to go down huddled under a rock! Although, I will go out on a limb here and say that with that many necrons in the area, you are going down, even if you are a Space Marine.

In the first DoW trailer, both forces were evently matched despite the SMs being outnumbered (well, I'd like to think that side from the two Orks, both forces were annihilated). In this trailer, the Sgt. thought that they could've destroyed the Monolith, and before that they were previously standing on a field of corpsified Necromungas that managed to undeadify themselves (so, maybe they thought they could've taken them on). It seemed like they were making a fighting retreat, got swarmed, and yeah - decided to make a last ditch effort at killing the Necrophiliacs.

Besides, in the 40k verse, crazed insane loonatic charges can result in victory - it just depends on how loud you scream, shout and praise the Emperor!

After seeing the Hi-Res version, I'm just gonna have to reiterate how cool looking the Landspeeders are in that.

yes but those tactical squads are supposed to be ninja (they have the infiltrate advantage)
