No dice. It gives the following error:
You updated to Balance Mod version 1.08, right?

In case you didn't see, my "108" 80 meg shit I posted isn't 108 at all. You need to apply the .zip version to it. If that's the problem.
Easy way to check is making a max tech game and seeing if gamma pulse torpedoes skip shields.
Try getting the .gam again. It could be fucked.
Worst comes to worst the Covenant transition could happen faster than have to.

Yeah, I'm fully upgraded on the new computer. Oh, well -- I guess I'll plug ol' Bessy back in. I should be able to get my turn in before the deadline. I'll download all of the materials tomorrow at work, re-install everything, and try running another test with you, Tux, if that's alright.

Actually, there were a few turns that were run with 1.07 which I had thought was 1.08, but a couple of turns ago I upgraded properly. Don't know why that would affect only one player, though.brianeyci wrote:In case you didn't see, my "108" 80 meg shit I posted isn't 108 at all. You need to apply the .zip version to it. I suppose I can run the turn in the morning before work. That would be roughly 7:30 AM PDT, or 11 hours from now. Should be enough time to get the correct 1.08 .rar.

If not, just let me run it for you. I can pop on my copy, fire off a turn and be done in 15 minutes I bet. All I need to do is push a few things and refresh some queues I bet!Arthur_Tuxedo wrote:I suppose I can run the turn in the morning before work. Alright, my new turn's up. Sorry for the trouble, everyone. I ran this one on my old computer -- the problems started when I started running turns on my new one, so maybe that's it. Covenant, I'll go ahead and send you my password now, just in case things don't work out.
EDIT: Anyway... I don't know what the problem could be. I keep the latest patch for Space Empires on my iPod, as well as all of the custom shipsets I have, and the latest folder for the Balance Mod. When I want to put the game on a different computer, I install it from the CD first, then upgrade with the patch. I then place the Balance Mod folder in the GameTypes folder, and copy the shipsets to both stock and BM SE:V. The Balance Mod folder copied to the computer is without the error that was giving me trouble before -- I checked.
I simply have no clue what the problem could be. Hopefully, when I uninstall the game, and put everything back on fresh from the CD and/or a new download, it'll all work correctly. I'll upload yet another test turn tomorrow night, off of the new computer, if you don't mind, Arthur.
What a collosal screw up.

Worked like a charm. Something is clearly different between the old and new computer. Just have to figure out what.

Ya, I had this problem too. I had to settle with using remote load when they're over the world, then next turn moving, and once they're over the target world, then using remote drop. It makes the whole ordeal take 4 times as long. I had a green world IN MY HOME SYSTEM that was devoid of people for like 10 turns because I couldn't figure out how to get people onto the goddamn transports.

Really? I haven't had any problems like that... you can issue a remote load/drop command, in conjunction with move commands, and such. In fact, they'll work as move commands, if you tell the ship to load cargo over a planet they're not actually in orbit of.
For example, I forgot to load population onto one of my colonizers, so one of my colonies had 0 population. But, I had another colony ship, with population, in the area, several hexes away. I gave it a remote drop order over the empty planet, and a remote load order over a nearby (populated) colony. I then went into the view orders button, and put the two new orders at the top of the queue. The following turn, the ship dropped it's population on the empty colony, loaded more population from the nearby planet, and proceeded on its way with the orders I had given it before, all in one turn.

Well, fuck.
I spent hours playing SEV singleplayer last night. Was a great time, but just as the Davions were about to smackdown a filthy neutral race that had dared attack a colony ship, it crashed.
Worse, now the game won't load. It just hangs and I have to hardboot.
Anyone else had that happen? I had to drop out of the first SDN SEV game because the game was so unreliable, and I'd just managed to convince myself it was finally stable enough to play.

When you start the game, click setup. Try turning everything to safe mode and low graphic detail.
If worst comes to worst send me the saved game. If it crashes on my end, probably fucked. There's an autosave option that saves every so often turns, that doesn't replace the old save.
Bugs shouldn't happen with the multiplayer. If they ever do we can always revert to an older version of the game.

General Anouncement:
If you need to send me e-mails, send to Chromecrusher@aol. com.
I've given up on trying to change the PBW e-mail, so...
The old e-mail is my parents, which I used for pbw for some reason, and my mom has a habit of deleteing everything PBW related as soon as she sees it...
Oh, and if any of you have sent me messages in the past via e-mail, you might want to resend them.
Thanks.

Oh, I am, when it's being beamed in from out of system from a rather belligerant neighbor.GuppyShark wrote:Holy shit, guys.
I'll be addressing this colonisation stuff in RP in an hour or so once I've eaten.
Cov, in your last RP post you said you had read the IC message the Feds sent to the Davions? Didn't realise you were reading the Prince's mail.

You know that hundred or so ships/bases I'm listed as having? more than half of them are in one sector:
