Well, essentially it´s two hands and a head.
What, does a hand getting cut off AGAIN, not seem stupid, contrived and made up by some fanboy to anyone else but me?
I guess everytime someone gets killed with a blaster, you feel the same?
Surely even Lucas wouldn't be as dried up as to repeat that scene for a third time
It was either the hands, the legs, the torso, the head or the genitals.

There's a clear element of revenge at work, most likely. "You kicked my ass and cut off my hand, so... snip snip."

Seems perfectly plausible to me.

Funny  Getting shot is one thing. Having Anakin involved in a lightsaber battle which ends with the exact same motion, i.e cutting of Mace's hand, is something quite different. However:
Vympel wrote:Anakin lunges towards Mace as the Jedi goes to strike against Palpatine. A lightsaber battle begins; fast and furious until Mace's hand is cut off. Sidious raises his hands and lightning strikes from them, zapping Mace in revenge with full veracity - and with his lightning he lifts up the disabled Jedi and throws him through the window, out into the Coruscant traffic below.
Where's this other hand and head then

Petrosjko wrote:There's a clear element of revenge at work, most likely. "You kicked my ass and cut off my hand, so... snip snip."
That was Duku, not Mace Windu

I´m talking about Dooku, you´re talking about Mace.

And I still can´t see what´s so bad about loosing a hand, getting electrocuted and then flung out a window from several hundred meters up in the air. Unless you´re the guy getting it. :P

The scene in question is between Mace and Anakin, for which Dooku is already dead. He has no revenge issues about losing a hand to Mace because it never happened so to bring it up is pointless.
Whats so bad is that its the same person involved in the exact same repetatative situation which screams of someone who can't think of anything better to write.

And finally, this is the big scene where the Emperor of the Galactic Empire is finally seen using a lightsaber, their not going to waste it by having him lose and be forced to beg for his life. If for no other reason that Anakin, in his arrogance and cockiness, would not follow someone who has now been shown as weak and pityfull.
Does that description sound like Sidious to ANYONE else :?:

Sidious is pulling an act to get sympathy from Anakin, nothing more. Had they been alone, Mace would have been toast anyway.

Complaining about the same bodyparts getting cut is pointless and has little to do with the importance of the scene itself. Getting a limb removed is not the focus of this scene, so I could care less about what gets cut. Besides, one less hand is one less part to hold a lightsabre with.

On another note, MF.com has two new pictures up, one of Yoda apparantly crawling up after a blow (or converting to Islam and praying :P), the second of Mace and his Jedi task force (which will soon be decimated by a certain Sith master). 8)

Mea culpa on the confusion over Mace losing a hand vs. Dooku losing a hand.

But there is only so much that can be done and stay inside of the ratings, not to mention the fact that lightsabers applied to most other portions of the body would cause blatantly incapacitating or lethal damage.

It would really depend on how it's done. If it's a lingering hand severing shot, all melodramatic and so on like previous ones, yeah, that'll be recycling. If it's done in a quick blur of action as one step chained with the other events leading to his death, it won't bother me so much.

Act or not it still presents himself to an arogant Anakin as someone who couldn't defeat Mace while he could, suggesting to Anakin that he's better than Sidious (so why serve him).
Its also a hell of a risk putting himself at Mace's mercy in the hope that he could keep him talking long enough for Anakin to show up and make a decision.

As for the hand, to my mind it just smacks of repetativeness and lazy writing which I'm kind of hoping their trying to avoid, especially if this movie is supposed to have the best fight choriography they've had yet.

Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, and two other unidenfitied Jedi, presumably in the scene where they enter Palpatine's office and get killed.

Sigh. You really haven´t paid attention to recent spoilers, have you?

Palpatine is said to hint that he knows the secret of eternal life. Anakin has had a vision where Padme is dead, so he´s desperate to find out what it is. In other words, he needs Palpatine alive so he can learn the secret as well. Too bad by the time he´s in the suit, Palpatine reveals there is no such secret and that Padme is dead, so everything is in vain. And Vader can do little else but follow him, if he wants to do some good in the galaxy. Vader is the product of flawed idealism.
Its also a hell of a risk putting himself at Mace's mercy in the hope that he could keep him talking long enough for Anakin to show up and make a decision.
He´s always in control, I´m sure he´s coordinating his fighting so the timing is just right. Then he plays the frail, old man with the big juicy secret to get the kid on his side.

Besides, Anakin is already said to be at odds with the Jedi Order, while Palpatine keeps stroking his ego. Won´t be that big a leap to turn him against them, if he believes they´re enemies to society.
As for the hand, to my mind it just smacks of repetativeness and lazy writing which I'm kind of hoping their trying to avoid, especially if this movie is supposed to have the best fight choriography they've had yet.
How is it lazy? That little mantra of yours still doesn´t make any sense.

One of those appears to be Eeth Koth, IMO.

The Goodbye Dooku has just a classic look of "I'm so fucked aren't I?"

There´s a fun Palpatine/Anakin promo pic too, with their hoods up and lightsabers lit.

That sentence can easily be misinterpreted. :P

That Yoda sequence looks strange. Did a fanboy put it together? It looks like Yoda from AOTC right before he draws his lightsaber was comped into a new background.

The first pic of the Yoda sequence is from a different scene.

The AOTC-ish pic is directly from the teaser trailer.

Eeth Koth is dead. The three Jedi Masters accompanying Mace Windu are Kit Fisto, Seasee Tiin (the one with two horns), and Agen Kolar (Eeth Koth lookalike). Supposedly all three get their asses kicked by Palpatine in a few seconds. Then Mace and Palps go at it for some time.

New AoR up on Hyperspace, a Confederate tank with threaded legs. It alternates between rolling on threads and actually walking! @__@

Not sure if it´s in the movie, but if it wasn´t they would have said so (like they did with the underwater shot).

Now all we have to do is wait for Saxton to think up a reason for a tank droid to need to alternate between rolling on treads and walking....

You use the legs on uberrough terrain, and the treads the rest of the time.

And if the threads are torn, the tank simply walks until it gets to maintenance.

I quite like the design. It would also have a bit better range when the guns are higher off the ground while standing. I was a bit worried before getting a look at it that it would be stupid but it actually appears to be a fairly practical looking design.

When I first heard people talking about it, it sounded like the thing stood up on it´s hindlegs or something. I kept imagining a humanoid walker or a giant robot. Thank goodness they worded it wrong!
