Just a quick note to those who think that CATO is in some sort of "inferior" position to the MESS economically, that's just wrong. The MESS has a larger GDP, but frankly, both alliances are largely formed of modern economies and the CATO 60% to MESS 100% is not a bad result, especially considering we accumulated small nations whereas the MESS was set up as a hyperpower from the get go; certainly CATO is large enough an economic union to permit economic action should it need one.
Moreover, it's only natural for such large powers to compete economically, kinda like the EU, USA, SCO etc. All large organizations can afford the luxuries of economic competition. Perhaps nothing ruthless and gut-wrenching, but some punitive economic measures against the O.D. at least wouldn't hurt.
And frankly, one of the reasons I instigated the "Uncover Shep" operation is that given Shep's in-game history (not his IRL relationships with anyone, including Lonestar, but given his in-game history)... it would
completely unrealistic for our alter egos to just forget about it or allow someone who went ballistic on the whole world a chance at "redemption" (and how would he redeem himself? Maybe by spraying Agent Orange in Sirnoth, that is until Lonestar allows him to use heavier stuff...

)
People got too fuzzy about IRL relationships and forgot that this is supposed to be an
imitation of real politics, where hard questions would be asked if such fiugures as Shepistanis would resurface in official positions, and especially if there is even a slight possibility of Sheppard rising. Shepistani legacy will not be just swept under the rug so easily for cootie kittens. Even without invoking SDN World I, Shep did enough in this world so that his actions nearly destroyed the second game, and he purposefully tried to post "endgame" scenarios (thankfully, his nation's power was woefully inadequate for such tasks this time). Meanwhile all the posters (and their alter ego head of states) tried very hard to hold this game together. And voila, instead of rotting in a Bunker Shep is in Sirnoth and visits Shroomie's funral..
I think the MESS did a critical error by not really looking back at Shep's actions and thinking again.
Remember when Norseman tried to return to own a new nation? We said no; and Astaria was deemed utterly destroyed. I went great lengths to ensure Shepistan is destroyed, and when someone's nation is destroyed because of his own actions, shouldn't it basically serve as a welcome reminder that the game, like real life, has retributions for acting like that?
I would not shy to say that this sentiment over Shep's sudden resurgence is not mine alone. Unlike Skimmer, he has no nation to return to, and I don't see a reason why IC or OOC he should be ever granted one.

Guys, I'm sorry - I kinda completely forgot about that...I've been busy.
Yay, for Unreal Time.

Does anyone know what the current ingame date is? I reckon it's somewhere in late spring 2018, but I'm not sure exactly what month it is and I don't want to bork things up.

And lo,
Zanzibar follows in the wake of the Kingdom of Hawaii.
Also, does anyone know what's up with the images on the wiki? The newer ones simply don't show up as thumbnails...

I actually think it's still early
2019 2018.

Is it not still 2017? I have the Pezook conversion model and that told me we were still in October 2017 just recently.
And yes, wiki thumbnail engine failed for some reason. Images only can be seen fullsize.

I did a check with the handy date conversion spreadsheet gizmo Wilkens and PeZook built, and it tells me the game date as of today is 22 January 2018.

Hey Karmic, I see that your Eutopian territories have almost exclusively communists/leftist in the congress (and the Vineyards themselves have like 25% commies/socialists in the Congress). I think they might be... well, kind of uneasy about your ties with the OD and MESS, or at least react somehow to the issues at hand. They may not mean much since you're a monarchy, but in that case why are they even elected?

Few quick questions...
!: IS there a world map that actually has NAMES on it, so we know whose country goes where?
Also, who MAKES things? Im planning on setting Crossroads up as the "Apple" of our world, makking computers and ipd/iphone knockoffs... Anyone already hold patents to these things? Or am I free to dominate the markt?

Shroomania markets the DEGENATRON and GAYSTATION gaming consoles and iShroom and, apparently, Shroomberry (thanks Loinstar!

) multimedia systems also. We have computers and stuff. Consumer electronics, all that. We have sports cars, particularly BDSMW (BMW, but with seatbelts that appease to the BDSM crowds), Shroomswagen, Mercedes Schromz, etc. Lotsa British + German stuff with Shroomania.

EDIT: Thanks, Siege.

I'll let Pollux respond first to Shady's really, really unreal time post.
The Cascadian proposal was basically for the new Misterian government to declare a general amnesty and pledge not to prosecute loyalists of the overthrown republic or any others who are identified as anti-Communist and to permit emigration of such dissidents if they so choose, thus deflating the crisis in Empyrean City since people wouldn't feel like they're in a "now or never" situation. The sooner the crisis is past, the sooner the various ships that were in or near Misterian waters at the time would leave and things could get back to normal... well, relatively normal.
Obviously an immediate recognition of the new government as the legitimate one and legal successors of all agreements and deals with the old republic is on the table as our end of the agreement, lucrative since Cascadia has (likely, never confirmed in an IC post) signed a couple minor trade agreements that was providing Misteria with raw materials of Cascadian origin like lumber at advantageous prices. Since this timing is before the PacUnion talks even began, it would be from Cascadia only, but that likely means Alaskan recognition as well and a greater chance of recognition from other North Pacific states.
Also, speaking of the map and the NPCs, I was under the impression initially that various players had their own ideas for NPCs, like Siege showed for Zanzibar and like Lonestar likely has for the other OICAS nations. Are there any others who have ideas for giving profiles to the new NPCs?
Finally, on the issue of the map, while the big countries could logically be labeled, the small ones may not work so well with that. However, what we can do are wiki entries for various continents and regions that show just that portion of the map, "enlarged" if need be, and labeling the countries.

I dubbed psuedo-greenland 'Grunland' in passing (given that it's so close to Emmeria I figured they'd name it something...Germanish), but I don't really have any other ideas. There's not a lot up by me that isn't already filled out.

Regarding the issue of game consoles, if we're in late 2017-early 2018, we should be in late eighth-generation to early ninth-generation territory. The original Degenatron is outdated; hence, the Degenatron 360 (and the upcoming Degenatron 720, too!).

Alternatively that could be the Anglicized (Shroomanized?) form of Groenland, to appease Czech.

Alaska has Alaskan Aerospace Company and Alaskan Mining Company.
Cascadia has Boeing International HQed there and a major producer of aircraft for military and civilian purposes. North-Lockheed is a smaller company that sometimes manages to edge out Boeing on contracts, including being the designers of the NAF-16 Sea Kite 4.75 Gen design for the Navy and the 5th Gen ASF-20 Kestrel air superiority fighter (based off the YF-23).
I believe I may have mentioned a Cascadian Railways Corp before as well.
There is an Evergreen Pharmaceuticals as one of our lead medical corps.
