I didn't know Mayabirdies was familiar with Gurren Lagann. Somehow, I'm not surprised that the PRFY fliers revere Kamina as a minor deity, for he is an example that all pilots, irrespective of what craft they fly, should strive towards.

Technically, I don't think it's that, it's just that he kinda sorta-maybe resembles Rufus Shinra (well, FF7 Rufus, not so much SDNW1/SDNW2 Rufus) so they thought they were being "respectful" or something. Or mocking us, I suppose, the PRNFY being what it is. But we took the charitable explanation.

As someone who's familiar with both characters, I don't really see the resemblance.

Kamina (with bonus Nia Teppelin! lol time paradox)

Compare, contrast, and be on the lookout for potentially NSFW ads. Two very different men. If anything, Kamina looks more like a blue-haired Cloud or Zack than Rufus.

If the PRFY flyers really wanted to honor Rufus Shinra, they should have brought along a statue of Shizuo Heiwajima instead (another member of their pantheon of badasses, you see) and tried to pass that off as a depiction of Rufus. They were probably just making do with what they had already brought with them; sending back for a Shizuo statue would have taken too much time.

This being said, the PRFY fliers should use "IZAYA-KUN!" as a warcry without having any idea why or what it means.

Believe it or not, it's really fanart. Most of the stuff on Danbooru is either fanart or completely original works.

It's easy to avoid the NSFW content and the touhous if you know what you're doing, but it's really best to err on the side of caution. If you're willing to take the time to dredge through everything, though, you can find tons of stuff that can be useful for SDNW4 story posts and wiki entries.

Okay, an update. Battle of Wolf 359 is like 95% done. There is a skirmish I may plan at Alpha Centauri concurrent, but it's optional. IOW, if I can write it I'll write it, if not I won't and post what I got. It wouldn't make a major difference on the strategic scale either way.

Since other people want to write some stuff before it goes up, I'd say you've got until about Monday, as that's when I plan to post it. You know, as long as nobody else pulls some last-minute major game changer shit that makes me have to massively revise...

If you're unsure whether or not anything you intend might mess up what I got, send a PM to Shroom. He's uploaded a copy to GoogleDocs. Though I'd have to ask, out of respect for my writing and creative integrity, that you only ask if you have a genuine need to know and have real plans to write something that you think may change things significantly. I don't want everyone to see it before it's posted; I kinda like to reserve that for actual posting, y'know?

As a heads up, so long as it doesn't involve A) attacking a major MEH planet, B) destroying any MEH fleets, or C) altering the makeup of the coalition fleet, it's probably okay.

Send an IM to RogueIce2k3 and I'll hook you up.

One trick you can do if you have a client that doesn't allow you to manually join a chat is to add yourself on your own friends list. That way you can invite yourself to a chat because AIM thinks you're someone else.
