I like those E-11 type guns held by the First Order stormtroopers and Phasma. The magazine well is swapped over from the actual Sterling smg to make holstering it easier but the really funny thing about them is they technically have two stocks atleast out of universe.
They have the M4 style stock and also the underfolding stock. Is the underfolding stock a stock in universe on the E-11 or is it a grip or grenade launcher or a plasma harmonic stabilizer?

Maybe it's just me but all the material I have seen so far is giving me a sinking feeling. It's like they took the original trilogy and distilled it to a bunch of bullet points (- must have jedi and sith, - must have rebels and empire, - must have death star like superweapon etc.) and the trailers are here to tell us they have hit each of those points.

Makes sense. For ages now they've been promoting the film as "here's all of those characters you loved as a child, back for more fun."
By just giving people what they want, it helps with the overall brand power of SW. Now perhaps everyone might see it twice for nostalgia value alone. The adults can buy $300 premium Han/Chewie action figures, and kids can buy that rolling droid thing you drive with your iPhone from Toys R Us.

The thing I fear is that by doing this they are basically going to create a movie that lacks any real substance beyond hitting the bullet points at any cost. And that it will basically suck from trying too hard to be the OT Mk2.

Perhaps, but I don't really think they're going for "substance." I wager they'll be trying to make a marketable fun film with broad appeal, like what The Avengers tries to be.

I do see some differences, including changes in the technology and more diverse casting. But in some respects they are sticking close to the OT, I think. If that is the case, though, I wonder how much of that is due to the fact that we have had over a decade of fans bashing the Prequels in part for, let's be honest, not being exactly like the OT.
Sorry about the link I still don't know why it did not do the vidieo not that it matters now. It sounds like a new variation on the force theme I think. So anyway THAT WAS AWSOME

It is the location of Maz Katana's castle. I believe she is also the one speaking in the trailer other than Rey and Finn. From what I have seen, indications are that Rey is captured immediately after that sequence.

That would indeed be ironic if the new films are criticized for doing the opposite.

Loved the X-wing and Millenium Falcon combat. It is interesting that all of it is atmospheric.
It is interesting that the voice, which I assume to be Maz Katana, is ambiguous in terms of who she is speaking to at the end. It could be either Finn or Rey. Though my money is on Rey. For some reason I envision a scene in which she snatches up Luke's first lightsaber after it is knocked out of Finn's hands and takes on Kylo Ren. I have a feeling she is stronger in the Force than he is.
I also really liked the take on the Force theme. It was slightly more energetic while still feeling hopeful.

Now that's more like it! I remember being super-meh in response to the earlier trailer - it felt like such a rehash. This . . still has some of it, but it also looks like its own creature and entertaining as hell.
I think I prefer space combat over combat so close to the ground, though. It makes it look more epic.

I believe we see both. The reason the X-wings are in the atmosphere is to avoid the blast from the Starkiller. They start off in space before it fires.

It is interesting that the comment is ambiguous as to whether it is talking about Finn or Rey embracing the Force. Though I would bet on Rey. It is interesting that as the dialog states "the Jedi" it focuses on Finn rather than Rey.

So it seems like the Force and Jedi and Sith are once again relegated to almost myth. Not too sure about this to be honest since it could run the risk of rehashing what happened in the original trilogy, ie Luke trying to rebuild the Jedi.
