Multiple systems crash me now. This is just getting stupid.

If you ask me (and nobody did, but that's not going to stop me) I think it's your shipset - nobody is reporting anything similar but it's spreading to every system you have stuff in.

I think there may be a bug in one of the 'world map' versions of a ship/base/something. I was able to view Chaz this turn (after a short freeze while it loaded). I can only assume that whatever was causing the game to crash had moved away from the warp point.

Maybe you launched a new hull size recently?

I don't think that's the case. Afterall, none of the ships that I've built in those areas are different from ships I have elsewhere.

I think it probably also has something to do with that. Every time I click on one of your systems, it freezes up for 30 seconds or more before it finally loads. One way to find out is to temorarily replace the ship set files with a stock one and see what happens.

That is so much work though. :P

Which version of Balance Mod are we running?

Well fuck.

Okay, so I changed the shipset, and I didn't get the hideous errors anymore. What the crud? What's the deal? What could possibly, in a shipset, be causing my game to crash from an index error? How is that even possible?

I blame the game's poor graphics utilization. But even that shouldn't matter. It's not displaying thousands of ships. It's displaying, like, two.

Yeah, it's actually only displaying ONE ship in Chazzawazzer. There's no reason it should have a zillion-second slowdown because of that.

Don't know. There has to be something in one of the ship models it doesn't like.

It could be the way how differently strategic mode may be handled than normal? Try a test match with your set, Covie. And build one of each ship, and a fighter group, a sat group, or perhaps just 40 shipyard stations or something.

Maybe we can isolate this. It seems very likely to be some graphical glitch.

Sorry not to have said this earlier, but, I'm gone. Covenant's now taken over for me.

Anyway, Cov: I started a two player on my home system before I left, and used the original version of your Homeworld shipset. I didn't get any crashes, but, just like our SDN game, have had major slowdowns, which escalate the more things I build. Just to let you know.

Anyway, good gaming.

Not going to make mine or Keevan's turn tonight, you can go without me.

Might not make the next couple turns, I'll tell you what happens. Should be no problem, empires set to do nothing, just nobody invade the Federation or Suran in the meantime.

I also noticed a slowdown with the Higgaran shipset. Me and my friend restarted a hotseat game with it because a couple years in, the game slowed down so much.

I'm just getting too irritated here. Remind me not to buy Space Empires VI. Password is 89582.

What?

You might want to reconsider Bolte. You can solve most of the crash and graphics bugs setting to safe mode, and turning down the graphics detail. You're the only one who's fought any war already, and you won, and you're quitting?

Your choice if it's too bugged, but I'd like to mention that other people have had more devastating bugs that turned out to be not such a big deal, like Covenant's shipset bug.

I'm just depressed, and I can't play this game when I'm depressed.

I'm with you on that, but I want to do my best to be a good sport, so I'm going to stick around. My melancholy is not related to the game persay, so it's sad when something originally so fun becomes a chore. I get what you mean though Alan, and sometimes when you're just totally burnt out, it's really best to just walk away for a bit and get your head aired out. If you want to give your pass to an ally to manage for you, that might work too. You never know if you might want to come back, but if you don't, I know I'd understand the feeling.

Anyway, I have a wedding to attend (not my own, sadly) so I'm actually going to be out of town for four days. I'm going to set some long queues before I go, so I should be fine. Anyone who needs me to do anything, PLEASE get in touch before tomorrow morning, and I'll make sure to do that thing that it is you need or whatever.

I'm going to leave my password, and the exile's password, with Arthur so if he needs to he can solve a problem or something. Not the PBW passwords, but since he's the game admin I didn't think he'd need it, and I didn't think he'll use it to do anything. I'm certainly not attempting to pawn off two more Empires on him. I figure, it'll only be one or two turns. I'll be back sometime Sunday. I will also be carrying my cellphone, but that's not common knowledge and I doubt it'd be necessary.

A game this large was bound to have a few people drop out. It happens, but the show goes on. Hope you work through whatever it is that's eating you soon, Alan. In the meantime, I think I'll be gorging myself on your planets. Hope you don't mind. ;)

I say we call for replacements.

What about ColonialAdmiral's friend? And some others too.

He likes SEV, but he really doesn't wan't to get involved in PBW. I tried to get him in once, but he doesn't like the time demands that it sets on him.

My friend might be up for it -- he doesn't mind taking over for others' empires (he's done it on PBW once already that I know of), and he's eager to play. I'll send an email his way.

So, my buddy replied, and said he'd be willing to take over for Alan's empire. He's trying to register on SDN, but in the meantime, I gave him your email address, Arthur. He's all set up on PBW, so it should be no problem.

Received your friend's e-mail, and kicked Alan to open up the slot. I'll approve him as soon as he joins, but tell him to try and make it soon if he wants to submit for this turn.

Looks like the new SE V 1.44 patch is out. Did anyone's Steam force them to upgrade? If so, and they haven't submitted their turns yet, then all of us who've already submitted will have to redo our turns with the new patch. Now here's hoping the patch doesn't break BM savegames.

Well, did Steam force the upgrade or not? We're all in limbo until this question is answered.

You put the turn on hold right?

EDIT:
Kwok will be gone untill the 24th if there are problems...
