Romo didn't throw it to T.O. because Romo folded like a cheap tent in the second half, so he got flustered and lost his ability to read the field. There was a dramatic difference between first-half Romo and second-half Romo. Or perhaps I should say Romeo.

You can chalk it up to whatever you want: NY's defensive line harassing him, the Jessica Simpson factor, the possibility that he simply doesn't handle playoff pressure well, who knows?

It was pretty strange seeing clips of T.O. talking about how loyal he is to his quarterback and how he has always gotten along well with quarterbacks. WTF?

It was definitely the pressure the Giants were getting on him. Even if they weren't getting the sacks, he was on his back for most of the second half. In his head he was about to get hit right before every throw, which was why he wasn't getting to his second and third reads late in the game.

If Simpson was the reason he played so poorly in the second half, he should just retire now.

No, it was thrown to #83, which is either Patrick Crayton or Terry Glenn, I forget which. Owens was running a post on the right side and, while there was safety help over the top for him, he was basically single covered.

I like the game, but I'm not loyal to it, ie- I don't arrange my schedule around the NFL schedule. Also, I tend to watch only games that are really important, like playoff games or critical games near the end of the season, and even then, I'm more likely to watch if it's a team that I either like or hate.

I hate Dallas, so I watched the Dallas/NYG game. Seriously, why the fuck are they called "America's Team"?

Because, if Wiki is to be believed, when NFL films was putting together a retrospective on the 1978 season the editor got this harebrained idea to equate them with the Yankees and/or Celtics as a team that everyone rooted for throughout the country then titled the "year in review film" as "America's Team." So basically it was a blowjob of a marketing gimmick by one guy at NFL films which everyone just kept repeating until there was a bit of validity to it.

I read somewhere that Pittsburgh was first offered the 'America's Team' moniker and they turned it down because Rooney felt that it would dilute their attachment to the Steel City.

As to the truth of this, I don't know.

Buncha front-runnin', band-wagoneers, that's who roots for those teams (unless you happen to be from each team's respective area). Myself being in Skins country the most hilarious thing to see is folks in DC who wear Cowboys jersy's. I mean I've heard of heckling but this is in the middle of DC just dozens of people heaping scorn on someone for wearing said jersey. I loved every minute of it.

I disagree with a number of the things that the organization has done, but this is a classy move by New England.

Also, it's rather telling of the situation as a whole is Philadelphia and Washington fans root for the Giants against Dallas.

People have despised the Cowboys since JFK was killed in Dallas. Another reason is that Tex Schramm, who ran the team for 30 years, had the commisioner of the NFL (Pete Rozelle) wrapped around his finger (Schramm got Rozelle his first NFL job with the Rams and got the pther NFL owners to appoint him commisioner). For the better part of 25 years, any time Schramm wanted a change in the rules, a break with the schedule, friendly referees, you name it/ he got it: a far more effective and insidious form of cheating than anything Bellicheat and his videotapes could accomplish.

Former Eagles' QB Ron Jaworski told the story of how, during a game in Dallas, he was fed up with the referees for NOT calling interference on the Cowboys' secondary after several blatant fouls. The referee told him "You'll never beat them anyway."

The Cowboys deserve their spot as the most hated overall team in football*

* Aside from fans of the Chargers, Donkeys, Chiefs and Steelers, who hate the Raitards more. Cowboys' fans don't cost city governments substantial money for extra police to keep their hoodlum fans in line, while Fader fans do. I think the fact that their OL got manhandled by Michael Strahan, a defensive end pushing 40 was the biggest problem. The fact that Wade Phillips is a big fan of soft zones late in each half (Yeah, I'm still pissed about the Patriot game last season!) that practically give away cheap touchdowns hurts, too.

For me (Eagles fan), the Giants were merely a means to an end. A tool, if you will, to smash down the hated Cowboys. I didn't actually root for them as much as I was rooting against the 'boys. Now that it's done, that whiny, sniveling mope Eli can please go ahead and lose in fantastic fashion.

Hooah -- I loved our approach to Indy's spread: fucking BUMP AND FUCKING RUN GOD DAMNIT with plenty of man coverage.

The game ended in a slew of one on one matchups where passes were batted down left and right to include the final play, a ball that went off first Drayton Florence's outstretched fingers then Dallas Clarke's hands. I had this dude going for Indy in my room and he couldn't believe it. I tried to explain it simply to him: "Drayton Florence is a starter-caliber cornerback, suck it" but he couldn't be persuaded cause Indy had the "better chance" of beating New England.

I thought there was a poetic parallel between the end of the first half and the end of the game. At the very end of the first half, after marching down the field starting with less than a minute in the half, Manning practically threw the ball to a defender, and the receiver jumped in front of him for a touchdown, as if he were intercepting.

At the end of the game, Romo, in a similar situation (though starting the drive with much more time), did throw an interception in the end zone.

Also random, but NFL related: I finished burning all the Sam Spence tracks from AUTUMN THUNDER: 40 YEARS OF NFL FILMS MUSIC. It's sweeeeeeet, I recommend it for anyone that avidly watched NFL Films at any point in their life, or who just liked the music. It'll set you back $100 BUT it's all of 10 discs and 182 tracks, 120 or so by Sam Spence. (he made all the older stuff pretty much and that's what I got it for)

Rams Owner Georgia Frontiere Dies in LA

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Georgia Frontiere, the St. Louis native who became a hometown hero when she brought the NFL's Rams from Los Angeles in 1995, died Friday. She was 80.

Frontiere had been hospitalized for breast cancer for several months, the Rams said in a statement posted on their Web site.

"Georgia Frontiere was the first lady of sports in her native St. Louis," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement that also praised her philanthropy and concern for retired NFL players.

"Our mom was dedicated to being more than the owner of a football team," daughter Lucia Rodriguez and son Chip Rosenbloom said in the team's statement.

"She loved the Rams' players, coaches, and staff. The warmth and generosity she exuded will never be forgotten."

The one-time nightclub singer was married seven times, starting at age 15. Her sixth husband, Carroll Rosenbloom, owned the Los Angeles Rams at the time of his drowning death in 1979.

The Rams moved twice under Frontiere's leadership, first relocating from the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in 1980 to Anaheim, 35 miles away.

St. Louis' original NFL franchise, the Cardinals, had left for Arizona in 1988. After the city failed to land an expansion team, civic leaders built a $260 million, taxpayer-financed domed stadium anyway, in hopes of luring another team.

Frontiere, born in St. Louis, agreed in January 1995 to move, causing her to be demonized in Southern California but heralded in her hometown. At a downtown rally soon after the move was announced, thousands chanted "Georgia! Georgia!"

"You take my breath away," Frontiere told the crowd. "It's so good to be back in St. Louis, my hometown."

The Rams won the Super Bowl in 2000.

John Shaw, president of the Rams, said Frontiere was a "loyal, generous, and supportive owner who was totally committed" to the team.

"This is an enormous loss for me and for the Rams' organization. All of our prayers and sympathy go out to her family," Shaw said.

The Rams were the first major sports team to arrive in California when then they moved from Cleveland in 1946. They became the first football or baseball team to leave the state with the move to St. Louis.

Frontiere was a fixture at Rams games during the heyday of the "Greatest Show on Turf" teams that made the playoffs five out of six seasons from 1999 through 2004. Led by quarterback Kurt Warner, running back Marshall Faulk and receivers Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt, the Rams won the 2000 Super Bowl 23-16 and lost the Super Bowl two seasons later on a last-second field goal.
