Zixinus: Thomas Jefferson. Third President of the United States and author of the Declaration of Independence which, in part, said "that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." He also owned slaves that he did not free despite pledging to do so, including several female slaves at least one of whom, and actually I think there were several, that he impregnated.

The problem with the Hypocrisy one is that not everyone can recognize Thomas Jefferson on sight, and the caption is a bit too vague to piece it together. The caption should either make it clear who he is, or be effective even if you don't know who he is.

So, instead of:
HYPOCRISY

When it comes to petty little things like human equality and the inalienable right to liberty, a mean consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds
We might try something like:
HYPOCRISY

It grants us the power to own slaves while saying "all men are created equal" with a perfectly straight face
Of course, the latter is rather blunt and clear, which (as we all know) is anathema for literature types. If someone wants to deliberately obfuscate the language for the sake of seeming more literate-sounding, it would still work, so long as the meaning is clear.

I dunno, I got the hypocrisy one right away. It probably is too much of a nerd in-joke, but really so are most of the anime ones. "Consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds" is an Emerson quote, and he was lambasting statesmen and philosophers (ol' TJ fits the bill twice over) when he said it.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'
