you might not even know all the others. there might be some pretty cool aliens living on some planet who have the same value as humans.

Depends on how you define "superior". We're the only species to kill animals for some reason other than eating them or defending ourselves from them. We're the only species to organize in order to kill vast numbers of each other over lines on maps or ideologies.

for some reason we (most of us) also consider us to be the most valuable species on earth. most people, me included, consider killing a human worse than killing a fly, a turtle, a cow or a monkey.

Yeesh, I just meant this thread as a joke. Anyway, I believe humans are superior to all other species on Earth because, although other animals can kill us, they aren't capable of posing a threat to our species as a whole.

actually, if you consider bacteria animals, i´m sure there´d be a way that animals could take out humanity.

would you also say that white people are superior to black people? i mean if for some reason a war between black and white people would break out the white people would probably be able to defeat the black people due to higher read military standards in countries populated mainly by white people.

Probably a nitpick, but I think it would more accurate to say "human species" than "race".

Yes, I think humans are superior in virtually all ways to other animals, but that doesn't give us carte blanche to do whatever we want.

And in most physical respects (strength, speed, endurance, stamina, etc) we are downright pathetic compared to most animals. When a dog with foot-long legs can blow away the world's fastest human sprinter in a race, that ought to tell you something.

It's doubtful that separate evolutionary processes would yield sentient species with similar mind set. So a good question to ask would be: Why are there so many humanoid aliens in sci-fi? And why are there so many human-looking aliens in Star Trek? Eh...

That isn't true at all. Some animals in the wild will kill for fun, so will those in captivity. I used to have a cat that would kill every chicken it could get ahold of. It wouldn't eat them, it would just kill them.
