McAfee, Windows Defender AND Adaware Plus - good/ bad?

Post by frogcurry »

I currently have Windows Defender running all the time as my realtime protection. I'm considering also getting Adaware Plus which also runs in realtime, as a few (overall not too harmful) things have got past Defender recently then been caught in the regular scans by the free Adaware version I run every week or so. Plus at about UK£15 its decently priced for security software.

However, I already have the full McAfee works running also, so that would mean three full realtime scanners/ watchers running. Obviously I could cut down when not on the internet to avoid too much processor slowdown (not that I've noticed any so far, pretty decent PC), but my main concern is possibly incompatibilities between the three programs.

So has anyone any related experience or opinions?

I'm not planning to remove McAfee or Defender BTW; my experience of both is better than anything else related (except for this little issue now of course) so I'm interested in adding security layers, not replacing or removing existing.
