I've got the demo of Maya (PLE 7.0) up and running just fine on my old machine (a P4 1.8 GHz), but as you might guess, as soon as I subdivide ANYTHING it takes an un-godly amount of time to manipulate anything. So, I downloaded the demo to my new computer (AMD x2 3800+ with a 7800GT), and I get an error message saying something about memory consistency, and Maya had to close.
Now, this isn't the first time I've had trouble installing Maya on my new computer. The first few times I tried to install it, the download finished like a normal download, but it was 50 MB smaller than it should have. Needless to say, I had to re-attempt the download several times to get the full download.
Once I actually got the whole thing as it should have been, I tried to install it, but I was kept out of the installation process, and given the message that I did not have admin priveledges (which I do). I solved that problem by turning off Norton Internet Security (not exactly sure why it worked, but it did).
As of right now, I can get into Maya and play around for a good two minutes before I'm given the memory inconsistency message, and then it conks out. Any help that can be provided would be welcome. I'm actually looking to purchase Maya Unlimited with my student discount, but I'm awefully weary of doing so, considering how many issues I've had with it on this computer.
I don't know if it's any help or not, but on this computer, I've never experienced any problems, except for when I try to play EA games (and only EA games), I get stuck at the splash screen, and get a Game.dat error message, and the usual fixes for that problem don't help me. I sincerly doubt they are related in any way, but I just thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

Re: Need help getting Maya PLE 7.0 to run
I'm starting to think it's a problem with my computer, because I tried that last night, and when installing Max, my computer froze completely. I really don't know why - I've installed PhotoShop and two games on my computer in the last month and they've given me absolutely no problems. I'm thinking about contacting AutoDesk, but I don't think they'll be too eager to help me through my problems, considering they're just the demo versions...Master of Cards wrote:Get Max I'll have used on many slow and fast, old and new, and never had a problem (full verison 30 day demo at website site)Count Dooku wrote:I've got the demo of Maya (PLE 7.0) up and running just fine on my old machine (a P4 1.8 GHz), but as you might guess, as soon as I subdivide ANYTHING it takes an un-godly amount of time to manipulate anything. Run checkdisk or scandisk or whatever it's called, and find yourself a memory testing program - do a search for "memtest" I think.
