Were the Republic citizens told the real story of what happpened on Mustafer ?

The likely story to insure no one knew of the pregnancy is she died of complications on the asteroid that Obi Wan brought her too, or perhaps elsewhere. Mustfar was likely told as a tale where the heroic last Jedi who stood with Palpatine, defeated the leaders of the Seperatists, and was killed by a rogue Jedi.
Vader came about later as another supporter of Palpatine's, given that even Bail didn't know of who he was and was able to piece the truth because of Obi Wan.

No, I believe one of the Visual Dictionaries states that officially she was reported killed during the failed attempt by the Jedi to seize control of the Senate.
