Harrison Ford turned down $47 million to star in a new spin-off 'Star Wars' movie.

have y'all heard of this? I sure haven't and haven't seen anything about it posted...

Stinks of Bullshit to me, since Lucas has been adamant about not doing any more SW movies and I doubt that Sympatico @ MSN is going to be the first source for any new material.

Not to mention the fact that since Ford is apparently up for another round as Indiana Jones, I doubt he'd turn down 47 million dollars for another movie as Han.

Smells like a joke to me (and PLEASE, dress the link).

Clearly Supershadow is going through with his promise earlier than planned.

Lucas did joke to Hamill once about a new trilogy to be filmed in 2011 with Luke as an Obi-wan type mentor.

I foresee new Star Wars movies.... when George Lucas dies and the heirs to his estate realize that they can still make a crapload of money off of spin-offs or whate'er.

Oh, I think that there'll be more movies. just not "EPISODE 9 OMG!!!1!11~!"
I think some of his people might do animated stuff (clone wars stuff?) maybe...

Well, wasn't there talk about two TV shows.... one animated and one live action?

As far as I know, both programs are already in pre-production (I believe that the most Recent Insider even implied that a few episodes of the animated Clone Wars continuation have already been made). The cartoon is supposed to be released this fall, IIRC, with the live action a year or so later.

Yes, that's true. The interview in the Insider is the same that can be found here in which George Lucas says that a "good number" of episodes are completed.

(Puts hands together in prayer)

Please. No Wanktine.

Seriously, what can they do for another movie? Emperor Palpatine's been killed, Vader's been redeemed (and died), and the Empire is shattered. It's all anticlimax from here. There's a good reason why none of the post-movie EU books never held my attention.

It's a made up story anyway. Originates in the Daily Mail or one of those British Ragsheets-- TF.N posted a retraction shortly after running this story.

Well, that's pretty cool, I guess now we just wait and hope that they aren't an utter disappointment.

Two Words: Thrawn Trilogy

Two More: Dark Empire

Three More: New Jedi Order

I would hope future movies would be spin-offs that leave the main characters alone. I'd enjoy shorter, episodic types of movies than big ones. I bet they'd be cheaper to make as well, and could just cover one single good story with lots of snappy dialogue, disposable characters, and the like.

Three words you omitted from the post you quoted: "Please. No Wanktine."

Plus, make some reason why any of those would make a good set of movies...makes better sense then the spam you posted.

He asked what they could do for a movie, I gave him a possibly good one, a possibly bad one, and a possibly horrible one.

Edit: Beside I took the prayer to mean he's hoping it won't be Wanktine.

I was about to agree wholeheartedly with this, but then I recalled that there was news that the planned live-action series would pretty much be like this.
Zero sarcasm.. this train of thought (what new movies would be like.. and that something like that IS planned) really raises my anticipation for the upcoming series. Hope it'll be good.

Agreed about Wankatine, however I personally think TTT and DE would both make an excellent big screen adventure. DE in particular has the potential to have the very best of both the OT and PT - by that, I mean we have stuff happen in the Outer Rim (Mon Calamar, Nar Shadaa, and the Rebel base) as well as the Core (Coruscant and Byss). I confess I'd really love to see the Galactic Civil War come to Coruscant, and I would also love to see the Mon Calamari's homeworld.

Wankatine is a problem. I think for DE to work it has to have the bumps ironed out.

TTT is more intuitively easier to adapt, I guess, because it comes in three parts, doesn't have Vader, Wankatine or Ben and Yoda, it is pretty much a 'learn to stand on his own two feet' story for Luke, who faces the possibility that he has to train a new Jedi Order (though mercifully he'll refrain from actually calling it that).

It would be cool, but it'll never happen for obvious reasons. It's still fun to think about.

DE needs way too much tweaking. It's big, but it also involves basically reneging Vader's sacrifice and turning the Emperor's dial to 11. Taking out the Emperor and replacing him with some new Imperial despot/Uber Force User then leaves the taste of "So where was he all this time?!". While the scenario is great, what is involved is nuts(let alone the pointless Boba Fett subplot).

TTT works better in that it has the oddball Rebel versus Empire feel, just smaller scale. It is also an interesting departure that it does not end in one giant climatic moment(Thrawn isn't orbiting Wayland while Luke fights mister crazypants). It flows on a smaller scale that can be upgraded quickly and while both Thrawn and Mara are a bit wanked out, they also have more in line with the characters from the movies.

Then maybe, just maybe, next time you will explain what each choice is then presume everyone will know you were talking in the spam cliche of the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I'm sure Lucas has his own ideas about what the 25,000 years of galactic civilization preceding the movies is like. I'd like to see his take on things.

I like the idea that the Sith Lords did rule the galaxy for a good amount of time, at some point in the past. That's much more epic than the little squabbling mobs of pathetic Sith that crop up every now and then in the EU SW history.

No, good reading but I don't think it would translate well to the big screen.
Two More: Dark Empire
Fuck no, a terrible plot full of plot devices and rehashes that create a pale imitation of Star Wars.
Three More: New Jedi Order
Can't spell "NJO" without NO!

On a similar note, I think that KOTOR might actually make a decent film. Certainly, you'd have to modify its flow a good deal, but there core story is quite good, as are many of the characters, and although the plot is somewhat similar to that of the original films, it is certainly different enough to be workable. Indeed, I seem to recall Lucas making some remark at Celbration III indicating that Knights of the Old Republic was a potential avenue of expansion in terms of TV or even film (admittedly, though, it was a vague statement, and I wouldn't bank much on it).
