Where to find Flash?

Post by Lord Zentei »

Meaning Flash composer or whatever it is called. And from a site where it is not retardedly expensive.

An older version would be fine, it doesn't need all the newest fancy doo-dahs, just that the movies it makes are compatible with Flash Player.

You can get Flash Basic for $399 from Adobe.com, or alternately see if you can't find a used older edition being sold at a discount on eBay, Amazon, or another retailer.

There are also some third party apps out there, but I wouldn't trust them.

The unfortunate aspect of Flash is that it is basically a locked proprietary system, worse than .pdf in many respects, although I'm hoping that Adobe will open it up more.

I have (but rarely use) Flash Professional 8, as it is part of Macromedia Studio, which is the core web development platform at my business. For creating really basic web animations, IIRC Corel RAVE (part of GS12, which I have) can do Flash stuff, although I believe it was removed from the newer version.

Damn, I should have thought of it myself. :banghead: Anyway, thanks for the tip. ;) I went to Ebay and found a Flash 5 being sold there.

On another note, how do movies produced by Flash 5 work with modern players?

Before you buy be sure that Adobe allows reselling it. Some companies charge transfre licnesing fees. In some cases, e.g. Autodesk this can be up to 500 Dollars.
