I'm using mplayer on Ubuntu, and like any sensible person, I have stop-xscreensaver=yes included in my config file. An unfortunate side effect of this is that it now takes several seconds for mplayer to start up, and there is no indication that it actually starts up, which can lead to opening multiple instances.
Is there any way to speed up this process? Should I install a program that will move the mouse every couple of minutes? Any other suggestions?
