How do you extract the Windows CD key?

My idiot cleaning lady scraped off half the sticker, so I don't know what the full CD key is any more.

There are a few apps that can extract it for you. Something like this. I haven't used it but it's worth a try.

Something to be aware of is that if your PC is from one of the 'big boys', the XP license used on the install will be different from the one that's on the sticker.

At worst, you'll be required to call MS and activate over the phone.
Though I doubt even that'll happen as long as you're installing (for example) on a Dell machine using the key you got from a preexisting Dell XP install.
Install it on an HP using the Dell code, and you'll probably fail WGA validation.

A program called RockXP should also be able to do that. Warning, though: Several security programs give a false positive for it being a trojan, so I had to set mine to ignore it.
