Solid State Society is a movie according to AniDB.net.LadyTevar wrote:Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society will be showing on Sci-Fi Channel tonight at 11p EDT. As of this point, I'm not sure if it's a marathon of the series, or a movie. Either way, catch it if you can!
I'd suggest watching the series in its entirety first as the movie seems to hint major plot development which might spoil the events of the second gig.Balrog wrote:So for someone who's watching the series from the beginning, would this be a huge spoiler, or one of those "hey, here's a little side adventure that happened along the way"?
This would be a huge spoiler of sorts. There's a lot development in the characters from what they were in the 1st Gig, continued on from the 2nd. It also has new characters which were introduced later in the series.Balrog wrote:So for someone who's watching the series from the beginning, would this be a huge spoiler, or one of those "hey, here's a little side adventure that happened along the way"?

When the hell is it coming to DVD?
I like the movies too, though I will admit that the first had a silly amount of nudity. Innocence was good because it was essentially a movie about Batou, as opposed to the Major.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:But I like the movies (though the first was too short and had too much superfluous nudity)
I'm sorry, is someone suggesting that robots skiing on the moon isn't awesome? Because that would just be silly.Man, fuck Mamoru Oshii. Everything he makes is utter shit. Gawd, his shitty directing makes me so angry.
I liked the first Ghost in the Shell movie. The nudity is supposedly part of the symbolism some how. Not sure how that works but I guess.Ford Prefect wrote:I like the movies too, though I will admit that the first had a silly amount of nudity. If you're not wearing clothes no one can see you? *does mannerism*Stormbringer wrote:I liked the first Ghost in the Shell movie. The nudity is supposedly part of the symbolism some how. Not sure how that works but I guess.
I will admit that there were many scenes which just helped to make it longer, but dammit man - it's Batou! The second was so-so. It would have been a bit better movie had it been more tightly plotted instead of the absurd amount of scenes which are pretty pointless story-wise and make the movie seem utterly lethargic.
Not all of it made sense. It is based on a Shirow Masamune manga. But all the same, it's not something that really detracted from the movie either.Ford Prefect wrote:If you're not wearing clothes no one can see you? *does mannerism*
And I liked the underlying idea behind it. It worked in that respect. It's just the sheer indulgent film-making really hurt the better parts.Ford Prefect wrote:I will admit that there were many scenes which just helped to make it longer, but dammit man - it's Batou!
I fucking dare you to watch Dallos and tell me its awesome. The skiing on the moon scene was utter shit. Gawd!Ford Prefect wrote: I'm sorry, is someone suggesting that robots skiing on the moon isn't awesome? Because that would just be silly.
