The fandom parts are pretty close. I don't know if I was just lucky but the only fans I ever met weren't that annoying. And the actors don't go to conventions in uniform.

I bought it. What's really funny is only some aspects of the dialog are parody, the rest of just Star Trek

Most of it I thought was Star Trekkish, except better. lol But there were the scenes where Tim Allen and the woman were shooting up aliens and running down corridors to dodge them that reminded me of the Death Star scenes in ANH. Believe it or not, the scenes where Picard and Data were shooting aliens aboard the Scimitar in Nemesis reminded me a lot of the Death Star scenes in ANH, and that was my favorite part only because of that. I kept on silently humming the Stormtrooper theme from ANH whenever the aliens were seen.

And watching the part with the nerds going through the GQ blueprints and giving the precise steps for the choppers.... I just sat up and said out loud "Oh my God it's us!!!"

This is one of the best parodies ever made, up there with Blazing Saddles, because it not only parodies the subject, but it also works well as part of the genre itself.

Definitely NOT in the same slot as Blazing Saddles! It wasn't THAT funny. I say the funniest movies ever include Blazing Saddles, Airplane!, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Monty Python movies, what else...what else?? Damn, I can't think of other ones...
