When is china ready for democracy?

Post by ray245 »

From the collaspe of the Qing government to modern day, when is china 'stable' enough for a real democracy?

Real as in stable, and is actually able to sustain a multi-party democracy without becoming a dicatorship.

There's little problem instituting it in a course of a decade by the current government if it wills to do so.

They can gradually transit now and I'm sure the CCP will enjoy a supermajority for the next years as long as it's course receives the support of the majority of Chinese. Splinters from CCP like Nationalist, Democratic and Maoist parties are possible, since there are electorate possibilities for all three of those platforms. But most likely the current CCP will retain a supermajority.

The question is, should the CCP do that? Or should it perhaps de-politicize local administrations and try to imitate the Cuban model, giving democratic mechanisms at regional and municipal levels but remaining in power over the nation-state?
