What if Darth Plagueis is Darth Sidious?

Post by Kurgan »

I know I said earlier as far as I'm concerned, the guy never existed, but here's a thought...

What if Plagueis DID achieve immortality, because in fact, Palpatine IS Plagueis...

fun/fantasy movies existed before the overrated Star Wars came out. What made it seem 'less dark' was the sheer goofy aspect of it: two robots modeled on Laurel & Hardy, and a smartass outlaw with bigfoot co-pilot and their hotrod pizza-shaped ship, and they were sucked aboard a giant Disco Ball. -adw1
Someone asked me yesterday if Dracula met Saruman and there was a fight, who would win. I just looked at this man. What an idiotic thing to say. I mean really, it was half-witted. - Christopher Lee

That doesn't make sense.IIRC he tells Anakin that Darth Plagueis is killed by his apprentice.
Whats the point of doing that if he is Plagueis???

Because Kurgan here is deciding to go off on one of his rambling tangents.

Also would be pretty hard since the EU has established that Palps did have a master, said master wasn't human, and for the most part the only details that are missing are how the two met and how Palpatine was trained.

In the end Kurgan has nothing except his own suppositions and decided to make a waste of space topic of it.

Sideous obviously doesn't have the key to immortality as he flat-out admits right after Anakin becomes Vader. Therefore he can't be Plagueis.

Or he's lying:
Palpatine, to Anakin wrote:He became so powerful... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep.

Sideous has more reason to lie to Anakin while he's tempting him to the dark side than he does after Anakin has already given in.

Aw don't be such a spoil sport. I didn't start a "rambling tangent" I opened a topic with an idea, inviting others to speculate. I also admitted at the start my own bias and admitted that (in another thread I just commented in) that my view isn't canon. If people contribute more than a "me too" or a "FYAD" then it's not a waste of space.

Anyway, here's my idea:

Plagueis really does have the power of immortality. His apprentice (Palpatine) kills him in his sleep for some reason. Plagueis' spirit survives and possesses the treacherous apprentice! So the Palpatine we see is actually Plagueis in a new body. He has no intention of giving any of his secrets to Anakin, but tells him a distorted version of the past in order to string him along for his own purposes! ;)

However, Anakin's only recently been turned, and is obviously just a little distraught over Padmé's death at his hands. Saying that together they will discover how to do it reinforces the lie told previously and strongly appeals to Anakin's beliefs.

Padme hadn't died yet.

You're quite right, I'm getting confused  . Still...
ANAKIN: Just help me save Padme's life. I can't live without her. I won't let her die. I want the power to stop death.

PALPATINE: To cheat death is a power only one has achieved, but if we work together, I know we can discover the secret.
Still all he needs to do is repeat that one lie and Anakin will be falling over himself to do as he commands - as of course he does, laying waste to the Jedi Temple etc.

Why do I need to provide proof for what is inherently a "what if" scenario?

Do I need to prove that Yoda hijacked the Death Star and crashed it into Coruscant? Do I have to prove that Vader survived, put on white armor and joined the Rebellion? No...?

The possibility exists, because in the EU we know that Sith can leave their bodies and possess others.

And unlike your "otter watching" thread, this one is inherently about Star Wars and its characters.

Your verbal vommit offends me, please stop. There is no fucking possability that Palaptine was Plageus. Plagueus was a fecking Munn. There's gonna be a damn EU book on the thing and IIRC in another book Dark Lord or the RotS novel Palpatine muses on killing Plaueus in his sleep. You're talking utter and absolute bullshit is you think that an EU novel is on the same lines as a clearly stated Infinities idea, which many agree are some of the most retarded ideas ever put into print.

Actually, my ideas are on the same level as Infinities, because they're both NON-CANON.

It's fair game (like numerous other threads related to SW stuff that doesn't happen in the movies or c-canon).

What if Plagueis has the power that Palpatine had in the Dark Empire series, and transferred his soul to Palpatine upon the death of his body? The EU demonstrates to us the power and since we don't know much about Plagueis it's as plausible as any of the "retarded" (I agree, btw) ideas in Infinities or some fan fic in which Wedge is bisexual.

Ah, so you have nothing and really have just thrown something out to go along with a thought you had in another thread but because it wouldn't achieve anything, make a spam one of your own.

That's what I wanted to see because as much as you want to dress it up. The other thread where you mention the idea wouldn't garnered anything because you are just throwing out a variable that has no basis except what you think might could have happened.

But it's going to have the title it always should have had since you aren't finding a new idea, you throwing out one of your old ones. No different then Zor's, Battlehymn's, or some such.

For the last time, it's not meant as spam, anymore than any of those other threads. A detailed canonical defense is not required, since once again I'm taking an idea already well established in the EU and applying it as a "what if" to a g-canon character that we know next to nothing about.

If I thought I could PROVE it, I would have said so up front. Thanks.

If folks think this is such a stupid idea, then ignore it. You're probably doing more to keep this thread alive than Kurgan. I don't see why a silly hypothetical is worth getting so upset over.

He never asserted that he was a super mod or banned you from participating. You got offended by him? He tells you "You don't have to read it, feel free not to participate."

Don't get me wrong, he *is* pulling stuff out of his ass, and his speculation DOESN'T belong on this thread, still - you're accusing him of ordering you off the thread where all he did was advise you "don't stick around if you're offended" He never implied he had supermod powers nor attempted to use it. Further, that statement of his did not attempt to justify the presence of this thread on the PSW forum [EDIT: ''where it clearly doesn't belong''].

In short, concede that you're misrepresenting his position and retract the statement or prove that he's acting like a super-mod.

Touche! ;)

Anyway...

Perhaps the Sith discovered this ability a thousand years ago, and in fact Darth Bane, the one who originate the rule of two, is still alive?

Perhaps, like a snowball rolling down a mountain side, the Sith have been gaining power all these years, and that is how they can so easily overshadow the Jedi, and so greatly unbalance the Force.

"Wankatine" might not seem quite so crazy an idea, if he's actually the culmination of a thousand years of Sith knowledge! And the "Sith Legend" is that there has been a Sith Lord passing from Sith to Sith all these years, like a symbiont (or as full possession, for those who wouldn't cooperate).

If total submission to the dark side is part of Sith nature, and if they struggle to kill one another to be the strongest (to provide the best "host" for the Sith spirit)...

This has no bearing, whatsoever, on whether or not my argument is sensible. Granted, noobs like myself are more likely to - purely as a matter of frequency - make stupid points, but this by itself hardly constitutes a counter-argument.
The fact of the matter is this a bullshit thread with as much point as my belly button fluff and I can shit all over it since it's gonna end up in testing and eventually deleted.
So you're arguing that since this thread is a pointless thread (as we both have remarked previously, so don't try to frame it like I'm arguing about the validity of the thread because I'm not) which is likely to end up shelved it gives you open license to misrepresent the author's position and put words in their mouth?

Because that's exactly what you're doing, I've shown the post and given my explanation as to my view; I'm waiting for some convincing counter-evidence or a retraction.

And Kurgan, for the love of God; shut up. This topic doesn't belong on the PSW board, because the PSW board is not for debating purely whimsical theories. Nobody wants to debate whether or not Plagueis was re-incarnated as Palpatine's ex-girlfriend because there's just too little evidence to hold any form of meaningful discussion on the subject. Stop pushing your luck.
